Congressman brings $900,000 project to Southgate
T
he solar eclipse that occurred on the afternoon of April 8th was not the only significant event to take place that day. Earlier that afternoon, Congressman Shri Thanedar hosted a press conference in front of the Spirit of Detroit statue detailing the successful allocation of over $15 million in Community Project Funding within Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. These much needed projects included funding for neighborhood revitalization, flood mitigation, workforce development and infrastructure improvements. Congressman Shri Thanedar stated, “Since I arrived in Washington, I’ve made it a priority to bring the maximum amount of federal dollars back to our District.” The City of Southgate received a $900,000 grant to install three pressure relief valves for their municipal water system. Congressman Thanedar further explained, “The funds for this project will go toward installing pressure relief valves, reducing strain on these old water mains and preventing breaks and shutoffs, making SEE PROJECT, Page 4
