As the developer of this project, I am hopeful you’ve noticed the recent construction activity at the former Security Bank Building on Trenton Road. This landmark, the tallest structure between Downtown Detroit and Toledo, has sat vacant since 2016, when the last office tenants moved out. Southgate Tower, LLC, an entity affiliated with Detroit area developers Gordon Begin Properties, purchased the building in April of 2022 after extensive evaluation. The Bank Tower Apartments, as it will now be called, will preserve historic elements of the building while upgrading it with modern systems in a conversion to residential use.
