Letter to my dog. Dear dog of mine, The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and/or dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me won’t help you win because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. Sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space will gain you nothing. For the last time: there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I manage to beat you there and get the door shut leaving you in the hall, it is not necessary to claw,whine, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Rest assured that I have been using the batghroom for years without any canine assistance. Last but not least, the proper order for kissing is KISS ME FIRST – then go smell the other dog’s butt. I cannot stress this enough. From your adoring servant.
I am sure many members have heard people talk about the Rainbow Bridge. Whilst looking through some of our past newsletters I found this article and thought to share with you all. RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals that have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again. Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content. Except for one small thing – they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together. But the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance, the bright eyes are intent, the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group. Flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster, you have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion never to be parted again, the happy licks rain upon your face, your hand again caresses the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the bridge together.
