he Club now has a brand new Web Site. It is still at www.sddtc.org. This has been a long time coming but it has been worth the wait! Ally who did it has done a great job as It is much easier to use and faster too with more photo’s. I am delighted with it and would welcome members views about it? We have some photo’s from our recent Agility Trial and some not so good ones I took at our Halloween night on my phone mmm…. More photos will go up after our dinner and presentation night on December 2. If you have any photo’s of your dog send them to me. he is a Cavoodle (King Charles caviler x poodle) she was born on 21st March 2008 in Melbourne, she was an internet baby advertise over the internet for future dog buyers. Well on the 17th May 2008 she jetted from Melbourne to Sydney. When I arrived at the airport, there she was such a small thing in such a big crate, I knew she was mine and she knew as well, it was love at first sight. Within weeks she had grown into a bra-munching, hole-digging, shoesniffing, furniture-eating, sleep-depriving, dinner-stealing wrecker of $50 computer cables. But I still love her. She has been my constant companion. Of course my floppy-eared tornado can also annoy me beyond belief, but how can I stay angry for too long at a beautiful lady who just tries so hard to please me. Not so long ago, I returned home after a dreadful day at work. When I opened the front door and heard the hurried ticker-ticker of claws on floor-boards, I looked down to see Misty wagging her tail with enough force to strike out a set of bowling pins, her brown eyes looking up at me. In her mouth was a plaque taken from the fridge saying ‘Love me’ with her mouth covering the cat and only that showing.
We joined Springwood dog club in the intake in February 2009, on any given training Misty’s first night home night you’ll see poodles, groodles, spoodles and oodles of other canines, heeling, sitting, standing, dropping and all else that makes their owners happy. Since then we have proceeded through beginner’s classes then onto advance and finally into competition level, receiving a trophy for competition class. We have just finished a stint of learning to become an instructor. I am an active committee member as well. We also participate on a Friday night in Flyball training. I was, a cat person before this beautiful little gal came into my life, she has changed my life forever.

Ingredients: 2 cups whole-wheat flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth) 1 cup milk Directions: • Preheat oven to 375’F. • In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder • In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. • Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. • Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. • Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. • Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container. This is the original recipe, but I have found the cookies burn easily.
Ingredients: 3 large sweet potatoes 225 gm minced beef ½ tsp dried rosemary ½ tsp calcium 2 crushed weetabix ½ tsp cod liver oil 60 gms frozen peas or corn or a mixture of both

Directions: • Cook and mash potatoes • Dry cook the other ingredients together then mix with the potato • Flatten into a square dish and cut into whatever size portion fits your dog.
Dog Treat Poodle Paste Ingredients: 3 ½ cups wheat flour 8 ounces beef liver 3 whole egg 1 tablespoon olive oil 8 tablespoons butter – optional Directions: I swear it was empty when I opened it. • Puree beef liver in blender until smooth. • Add eggs and blend for about a minute. • Put flour in a large mixing bowl and make a well in the centre of the flour. • Pour liver and egg mixture into well along with olive oil. • Mix well until thoroughly combined. • Turn dough out on floured board and knead well for at least 5 minutes or until smooth and shiny. • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and let dough rest in refrigerator for at least 1 hour, no longer than 2 days. • When ready to make pasta, divide dough into 8 equal portions, approximately 4 oz. each. • Form into desired pasta shapes with hands or use pasta machine. • Cook in rapidly boiling water until al dente. For thin noodles, approximately 10 minutes, for thicker noodles a few minutes longer. • Drain noodles and toss with 1 tablespoon butter per serving, if desired. Instead of butter, try tossing noodles with 1 tablespoon olive oil, canola oil or other oil high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids

he following information below is an extract from the RSPCA web site it also had different amounts of money and what it could be used for I could not shrink it enough for the newsletter but at last nights Springwood District Dog Club meeting we decided to send them $500.00 to help in some way as our animals are hurting too hopefully other dog clubs might also help we doggie people like to look after our own I guess. RSPCA Qld is calling for donations that can be used to purchase pet, livestock and wildlife supplies in areas affected by the current flood crisis. We’re urging people to donate financially rather than dropping off supplies because of the logistics involved in moving those much need items throughout the State. Money that could otherwise be used to help animals would be taken up in transportation and packaging costs. RSPCA’s Townsville and Fairfield Shelters sent crates to help authorities deal with domestic pets stranded in Theodore and we have now set up a temporary Shelter at the evacuation
centre at Central Queensland University. We have also set up a data base of foster carers in the area who can look after pets and livestock during the crisis. We have three Inspectors plus a boat and our volunteer ambulance devoted to animal rescues. To date their efforts have been encouraging, particularly in regard to livestock and native wildlife.In simple terms we’re doing the best we can. But we are a charity and whichever way you look at it we can’t solve the problems by ourselves. We continue to rely on assistance from local authorities and of course the pet and livestock owners of Queensland. We have to become proactive rather than just reactive. In the meantime our dedicated Inspectors and ambulance officers will continue to do their utmost to help animals affected by the floods. Below you’ll find the anticipated costs of items that we think will be needed. However please understand that donations may not necessarily go directly towards the items you have selected.
This notice is posted very low on my refrigerator door... Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and/or dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me won’t help you win because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. Sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space will gain you nothing. For the last time: There is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I manage to beat you there and get the door shut leaving you in the hall, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Rest assured that I have been using the bathroom for years without any canine or feline assistance.

ach year we have a raffle at our Obedience & Agility Trial which I have already started to do. These are not only a way of making a little more money for the club, the people at trials love them and I try to have 20 prizes. Dear God: Is it on purpose our names are the same, only reversed? Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the ‘Chrysler Eagle’ the ‘Chrysler Beagle’? Dear God: If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog? Dear God: We Dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID’s, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog. 1. I will not eat the cats’ food before they eat it or after they throw it up. 2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell. 3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar. 4. The sofa is not a ‘face towel’. 5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff. 6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad’s underwear when he’s on the toilet. 7. Sticking my nose into someone’s crotch is an unacceptable way of saying ‘hello’. 8. I don’t need to suddenly stand straight up when I’m under the coffee table. 9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after. 10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet. 11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch. 12. The cat is not a ‘squeaky toy’ so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it’s usually not a good thing? P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?
am sure many members have heard people talk about the Rainbow Bridge, I certainly have and often wondered where this came from, did a doggie person write it, was it a poem or what, well I still don’t know where it originally came from but I found it in one of our old newsletters that Ron gave me and thought I would share it with you all and I hope this place does exist it sound nice!
RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals that have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again. Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content. Except for one small thing. They miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together. But the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group. Flying over the green grass. His legs carrying him faster and faster .You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again, the happy licks rain upon your face, your hand again caresses the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the bridge together…

As you know there is no one in our club that gets paid for what they do week in week out and also the hours we work for our club at home or at demos etc. We do it for our best friends our pooches! and also for our club, as we are very proud of this club and have some fantastic members.
Some people are just happy to have their dog sit or stay or just walk on a lead. While others may end up going to the obedience or agility trialing. Either way there are many instructors in this club that can help you to do this, whatever you decide to do and we look forward to seeing you each week.

o my friends who enjoy a glass of wine, and those who don’t and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day. At the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

ogs resembling this breed have been seen in drawings in Egyptian tombs dating back to 2200 BC. They were shorter of leg and resembled mastiffs in body type. The first breed club was started in the UK in 1885 and in America in 1889. This dog is a large sized breed. that is very muscular and strong. The head is rectangular and long in appearance. They have a short dense coat. They give the appearance of being very noble and dignified.

This breed is an intelligent and affectionate dog. They can become very close and loyal to the family and close family friends that are frequent visitors. They do get on well with other dogs, household pets and children. They are ideally suited to the active family. They are quick to alert the family of any strangers approaching their territory, as they are excellent guard dogs, although they do not bark very much.

They should be socialised and training started at an early age.
Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I’m doing it as a public service!

This dog is an intelligent dog that, with an experienced handler, can be trained for protection work. As they grow very quickly into a very large dog their training has to start when they are young. All training must be consistent. As puppies they do require lots of socialisation and training. Over 18 months of age the minimum height of dogs should ideally be 76cms at the withers and weigh 54kgs. Bitches, of the same age should have a minimum height of 71cms at the withers and weigh 46kgs.

First Obedience Trial of the year was Manly Dog Club held on January the 8th 2011. Two members from our club went home happy. • Celeste Paxton with Trouper got 1st place in Novice on 193 points • Bill Sweeney with Elsa got 2nd place in the UD ring on 188 points Congratulations to you both. First Obedience Trial of the year was Manly Dog Club held on January the 8th 2011. Two members from our club went home happy. • Celeste Paxton with Trouper got 1st place in Novice on 193 points • Bill Sweeney with Elsa got 2nd place in the UD ring on 188 points Congratulations to you both. Weekend 15th and 16th at Newcastle Obedience Trial • Friday night Bill got 2nd place with Marla in the UD ring on 188 points • And 3rd place in the same UD ring with Elsa on 180 points • Saturday Bill Sweeney won the UDX ring with Marla on 181 points • Then went on to take 1st place in the UD ring with Marla on 186 points

o my friends who enjoy a glass of wine, and those who don’t and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day. At the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

ogs resembling this breed have been seen in drawings in Egyptian tombs dating back to 2200 BC. They were shorter of leg and resembled mastiffs in body type. The first breed club was started in the UK in 1885 and in America in 1889. This dog is a large sized breed. that is very muscular and strong. The head is rectangular and long in appearance. They have a short dense coat. They give the appearance of being very noble and dignified.

This breed is an intelligent and affectionate dog. They can become very close and loyal to the family and close family friends that are frequent visitors. They do get on well with other dogs, household pets and children. They are ideally suited to the active family. They are quick to alert the family of any strangers approaching their territory, as they are excellent guard dogs, although they do not bark very much.

They should be socialised and training started at an early age.
Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I’m doing it as a public service!

This dog is an intelligent dog that, with an experienced handler, can be trained for protection work. As they grow very quickly into a very large dog their training has to start when they are young. All training must be consistent. As puppies they do require lots of socialisation and training. Over 18 months of age the minimum height of dogs should ideally be 76cms at the withers and weigh 54kgs. Bitches, of the same age should have a minimum height of 71cms at the withers and weigh 46kgs.

As you know there is no one in our club that gets paid for what they do week in week out and also the hours we work for our club at home or at demos etc. We do it for our best friends our pooches! and also for our club, as we are very proud of this club and have some fantastic members.
Some people are just happy to have their dog sit or stay or just walk on a lead. While others may end up going to the obedience or agility trialing. Either way there are many instructors in this club that can help you to do this, whatever you decide to do and we look forward to seeing you each week.

Dear God: Is it on purpose our names are the same, only reversed? Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the ‘Chrysler Eagle’ the ‘Chrysler Beagle’? Dear God: If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog? Dear God: We Dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID’s, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog. 1. I will not eat the cats’ food before they eat it or after they throw it up. 2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell. 3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar. 4. The sofa is not a ‘face towel’. 5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff. 6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad’s underwear when he’s on the toilet. 7. Sticking my nose into someone’s crotch is an unacceptable way of saying ‘hello’. 8. I don’t need to suddenly stand straight up when I’m under the coffee table. 9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after. 10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet. 11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch. 12. The cat is not a ‘squeaky toy’ so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it’s usually not a good thing? P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?
am sure many members have heard people talk about the Rainbow Bridge, I certainly have and often wondered where this came from, did a doggie person write it, was it a poem or what, well I still don’t know where it originally came from but I found it in one of our old newsletters that Ron gave me and thought I would share it with you all and I hope this place does exist it sound nice!
RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals that have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again. Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content. Except for one small thing. They miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together. But the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group. Flying over the green grass. His legs carrying him faster and faster .You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again, the happy licks rain upon your face, your hand again caresses the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the bridge together…

he following information below is an extract from the RSPCA web site it also had different amounts of money and what it could be used for I could not shrink it enough for the newsletter but at last nights Springwood District Dog Club meeting we decided to send them $500.00 to help in some way as our animals are hurting too hopefully other dog clubs might also help we doggie people like to look after our own I guess. RSPCA Qld is calling for donations that can be used to purchase pet, livestock and wildlife supplies in areas affected by the current flood crisis. We’re urging people to donate financially rather than dropping off supplies because of the logistics involved in moving those much need items throughout the State. Money that could otherwise be used to help animals would be taken up in transportation and packaging costs. RSPCA’s Townsville and Fairfield Shelters sent crates to help authorities deal with domestic pets stranded in Theodore and we have now set up a temporary Shelter at the evacuation
centre at Central Queensland University. We have also set up a data base of foster carers in the area who can look after pets and livestock during the crisis. We have three Inspectors plus a boat and our volunteer ambulance devoted to animal rescues. To date their efforts have been encouraging, particularly in regard to livestock and native wildlife.In simple terms we’re doing the best we can. But we are a charity and whichever way you look at it we can’t solve the problems by ourselves. We continue to rely on assistance from local authorities and of course the pet and livestock owners of Queensland. We have to become proactive rather than just reactive. In the meantime our dedicated Inspectors and ambulance officers will continue to do their utmost to help animals affected by the floods. Below you’ll find the anticipated costs of items that we think will be needed. However please understand that donations may not necessarily go directly towards the items you have selected.
This notice is posted very low on my refrigerator door... Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and/or dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me won’t help you win because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. Sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space will gain you nothing. For the last time: There is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I manage to beat you there and get the door shut leaving you in the hall, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Rest assured that I have been using the bathroom for years without any canine or feline assistance.

Ingredients: 2 cups whole-wheat flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth) 1 cup milk Directions: • Preheat oven to 375’F. • In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder • In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. • Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. • Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. • Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. • Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container. This is the original recipe, but I have found the cookies burn easily.
Ingredients: 3 large sweet potatoes 225 gm minced beef ½ tsp dried rosemary ½ tsp calcium 2 crushed weetabix ½ tsp cod liver oil 60 gms frozen peas or corn or a mixture of both

Directions: • Cook and mash potatoes • Dry cook the other ingredients together then mix with the potato • Flatten into a square dish and cut into whatever size portion fits your dog.
Dog Treat Poodle Paste Ingredients: 3 ½ cups wheat flour 8 ounces beef liver 3 whole egg 1 tablespoon olive oil 8 tablespoons butter – optional Directions: I swear it was empty when I opened it. • Puree beef liver in blender until smooth. • Add eggs and blend for about a minute. • Put flour in a large mixing bowl and make a well in the centre of the flour. • Pour liver and egg mixture into well along with olive oil. • Mix well until thoroughly combined. • Turn dough out on floured board and knead well for at least 5 minutes or until smooth and shiny. • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and let dough rest in refrigerator for at least 1 hour, no longer than 2 days. • When ready to make pasta, divide dough into 8 equal portions, approximately 4 oz. each. • Form into desired pasta shapes with hands or use pasta machine. • Cook in rapidly boiling water until al dente. For thin noodles, approximately 10 minutes, for thicker noodles a few minutes longer. • Drain noodles and toss with 1 tablespoon butter per serving, if desired. Instead of butter, try tossing noodles with 1 tablespoon olive oil, canola oil or other oil high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids

he Club now has a brand new Web Site. It is still at www.sddtc.org. This has been a long time coming but it has been worth the wait! Ally who did it has done a great job as It is much easier to use and faster too with more photo’s. I am delighted with it and would welcome members views about it? We have some photo’s from our recent Agility Trial and some not so good ones I took at our Halloween night on my phone mmm…. More photos will go up after our dinner and presentation night on December 2. If you have any photo’s of your dog send them to me. he is a Cavoodle (King Charles caviler x poodle) she was born on 21st March 2008 in Melbourne, she was an internet baby advertise over the internet for future dog buyers. Well on the 17th May 2008 she jetted from Melbourne to Sydney. When I arrived at the airport, there she was such a small thing in such a big crate, I knew she was mine and she knew as well, it was love at first sight. Within weeks she had grown into a bra-munching, hole-digging, shoesniffing, furniture-eating, sleep-depriving, dinner-stealing wrecker of $50 computer cables. But I still love her. She has been my constant companion. Of course my floppy-eared tornado can also annoy me beyond belief, but how can I stay angry for too long at a beautiful lady who just tries so hard to please me. Not so long ago, I returned home after a dreadful day at work. When I opened the front door and heard the hurried ticker-ticker of claws on floor-boards, I looked down to see Misty wagging her tail with enough force to strike out a set of bowling pins, her brown eyes looking up at me. In her mouth was a plaque taken from the fridge saying ‘Love me’ with her mouth covering the cat and only that showing.
We joined Springwood dog club in the intake in February 2009, on any given training Misty’s first night home night you’ll see poodles, groodles, spoodles and oodles of other canines, heeling, sitting, standing, dropping and all else that makes their owners happy. Since then we have proceeded through beginner’s classes then onto advance and finally into competition level, receiving a trophy for competition class. We have just finished a stint of learning to become an instructor. I am an active committee member as well. We also participate on a Friday night in Flyball training. I was, a cat person before this beautiful little gal came into my life, she has changed my life forever.
