A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ALL
ANZAC DAY 2017 On Tuesday, 25th April, 2017 this country remembers Anzac Day and our club marches under the banner of ‘Honouring Animals That Have Served This Country In War’. Our club also places Animal War Stories books at the Memorial which are given to school libraries. If you feel you would like to walk with your dog under our club’s banner on this day – here are a few pieces of information you will need to think about. 1. Dog must be used to noise - a band heads the march, lots of school children and sporting groups 2. Dog must be able to walk with other dogs. Our club marches at the rear and we disperse when the march reaches the Anzac Memorial.. If you feel you would like to participate , there will be a sheet at the sign on table . -------------------------------------------------------------
SPRINGWOOD FOUNDATION DAY On Saturday, 29th April, 2017 Springwood Foundation Day will be held. Macquarie Road is completely blocked for the day and our club has a stall. We have our club on display to the public. We run a raffle for our club and would like some items to fill our basket. If you feel you have some small item you would like to donate to this cause, do not hesitate to bring it along and give it to Maryjka Kelly We sell our club goodies and we need members with their dogs to promote our club. We do not require you to stay there all day but if you could come with your dog for a few hours (or whatever time you can give)to promote good dog ownership in the mountains. Our club stall is situated near the Springwood Railway entrance – and below is a criteria for the day. 1.DOGS MUST BE ABLE TO GET ALONG WITH OTHER DOGS 2.DOGS MUST BE NOISE PROOF (bands, music groups, ballons, screaming children, etc.,) If you feel you would like to come along for some part of the day there will be a sheet at the sign on table..
TRAINING TIPS Keep training sessions short and sweet. It is better to do a five minute session a day than a half hour stint – young puppies often lose concentration easily. Only train when you are in a good mood, or you may take your stress out on your pet. Always end training sessions on a positive note with an exercise you know your dog can do easily, so you finish with the taste of success. At first, train with no distractions. Establish what you are trying to teach in a quiet environment and only add distractions later, so that your dog learns to respond in a range of environments. Training must always be reward-based – treats, toys, games and cuddles. Negative compulsive, punishing techniques are cruel and should not be tolerated.
A GLASS OF WINE To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and those who don’t and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand: As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom. In beer there is freedom In water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink a litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than l kilo of Escherichia coli (E.coli) bacteria found in faeces. In other words, we are consuming l kilo of poop. However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine/beer/tequila,rum/ whiskey or other liquor, because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting. Remember: Water = poop

Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of s… There is no need to thank me for this valuable information – I’m doing it as a public service.
