ERA Shields raises more than $43,000 for MDA as the top fundraising ERA Chapter in the United States NEWSWIRE

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) announced that ERA Shields Real Estate raised more than $43,000 for the local Colorado Chapter in 2015. Funds were raised through the MDA Muscle Walk and at the signature 9th Annual, The Arts: Downtown MDA Art Show. Dollars raised make MDA summer camp possible so kids with life-threatening diseases
can enjoy a week at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, Colo. More than 250 guests included key figures in the Colorado Springs Real Estate community. Guests enjoyed a night complete with cocktails, silent and live auctions, local art, and live music. Each year guests enjoy the artists showcased at the event and purchase pieces benefiting MDA. The evening culminated with the live auction, which included an exclusive live painting demonstration by speed painter Lisa Martin. In addition to Lisa, eleven local artists were also in attendance including Mark Wong, Lisa Akens, Liese Chavez, Laura Reilly, Tanya Walter, Todd Caudle, John Mendoza, Alex Palacio, Terri Sanchez, Eric Fetsch, Simone Farley, and Peter Olson. Each artist donated a percentage of sales back to MDA. Notable guests included MDA Colorado State Goodwill Ambassador, Zoe Grisez and other local families living with
muscular dystrophy and related diseases. Zoe shared the joy and freedom summer camp has brought to her, which resulted in an extra $4,000 in donations. Agents from ERA Shields came out to show their dedication and passion for giving back to the community which starts at the top, from President Bill Hurt, his wife Carol, and GM and Vice President, Cathi Sullivan. Under their leadership, ERA Shields is the top fundraising chapter in the United States. Cathi mentioned that “every year our agents, staff, and clients look forward to making this event a huge success in order to send kids to camp. We have seen what a wonderful environment camp is for them and we are honored to support this cause.” Since 2007 the Downtown MDA Art Show has raised more than $220,000. The local MDA office serves over 2,300 clients and families, with approximately 400 in the Southern Colorado region.
