FPATERFIALIfill. it a family affair

Mrs. Henrietta Urbish Klecka has been appointed the new postmalter at East Bernard, Texas, effective December 26, 1981, Houston Sectional Manager/Postmasteri Wallace Kido announced. The swearing in was held at the East Bernard Post Office at 8:30 January 22, 1982. Mrs. Klecka is a native of East Bernard and has been a clerk there. She is replacing Leroy Krauskopt, who has been officer-in-charge since the death of Justus J. Urbish in May 1981. Mr. Urbish was a brother of Mrs. Klecka. Postmaster selections are made on the basis of merit from a list of qualified candidates submitted to the Sectional Center Manager by a review committee. The review committee, composed of sectional center director from the same sectional center, a postmaster from the same sectional center, and a sectional center director from a different sectional center, review the applicants for the position and recommend, to the sectional center manager, those candidates who best meet the position requirements. The sectional center manager then selects and recommends, to the Postmaster General, the best qualified person for appointment to the vacancy. Mrs. Klecka was born in East Bernard to. Mary and Frank V. Urbish and since both sets of grandparents were born in Czechoslovakia in the Novy Jicin vicinity of northern Moravia and migrated to Dubina, Texas in the 1880's, she grew up speaking, writing and reading Czech. Being a third generation of American-Czech heritage her Czech-oriented community is justly proud of her selection. Sister Klecka graduated from East Bernard High School and married Rudolph (Rudy) Klecka of East Bernard and they have three

sons, Rudy Jr., James and Edward and 3 grandchildren. Rudy owns Klecka's Dry Goods in East Bernard and he is also an importer of Czech lead crystal, garnet jewelry, ceramics, costume dolls, decorated Easter eggs, etc. They both are avid and well-travelled personalities, having organized, escorted and directed group tours annually since 1967 to Czechoslovakia and on the Continent of Europe. They have been instrumental in helping others find their Czechoslovakian family roots, as they did theirs, which led to this interesting hobby. Mrs. Klecka and her husband are members of SPJST Lodge No. 28 of East Bernard, and their parents were Mary and Frank V. Urbish and John and Carolina Klecka.
