FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK The District III meeting was held Sunday, April 17th at Lodge No. 6, Cottonwood. The Lodge No. 6 membership out did themselves in being gracious hosts and the attendance was good. District III President Ed. Mazanec conducted the meeting very effectively and all reports of the District III officers were good and to the point and not too lengthy or tiring. The business part of the meeting lasted from about 1:30 to 3:40 pm. and then the youth went to the Dunbar Gym in West to have their playoffs in volleyball. Your editor would have liked to visit and/or socialize with some of the members after the meeting, however, we had to hurry off to the gym to be there when the games ended. On arrival there, from a half a block away one could tell that they had not concluded by the enthusiastic screams of each side's supporters every time someone made a point. It brought back fond memories when, as a youth, we used to love this sport. All in all it ended a very nice afternoon. I'm sure that the details will be forthcoming from your District III secretary, DYC, etc., so we will make this brief. * * Speaking of the meeting, the District III director and also the sales representative made reports which showed that our SPJST is progressing well, especially in the

SPRINGTIME . . Maple trees dripping sap, Little chicks growing fat. No snow left on the ground, Greening grass all around. Singing birds, blooming trees, Fragrant scents on the breeze, Little boys catching fish, What more joy could one wish. Winter's o'er, 'bye old thing, We prefer nice, new spring, —Eli R. After you have heard two eyewitness accounts of an accident, you begin to wonder about history. * * The important factor is not the size of the group in minds, but the size of the minds in the group. field of solvency. Where the average solvency of most organizations in insurance fields is about 104.77 percent, as of December 31, 1976, our SPJST solvency is 125.97 percent. This shows good steady increase and good production, especially in this time of inflation in our country. * * Last issue we promised to report on the visit to the SL meeting in conjunction with the PC to be held Friday, April 15th. Well, brothers and sisters, after working late Thursday night, April 14th, and rushing through the Friday morning mail, we left West in a steady downpour of rain at e it

11:45 a.m. to be there on time at 1 p.m., which the excerpts of the January SL meeting had announced was the starting time. We arrived at 12:50 and nearly all the PC members were present. We were conversing with PC Chairman Mazanee and Brother T. Lostak in the lobby, when Brother Morris came in and stated that the meeting would convene at 1:30 p.m. At 1:30 I went into the meeting room where the SL members had assembled and Brother Morris announced that he understood that this was to be a meeting of only the SL and the PC members. He polled all the SL members and all agreed that this was their understanding, except Legal Adviser Lesikar, who stated that he felt that probably the PC would like to have the editor present since he knows more about the Vestnik and its publication than anyone there. Brother Hejny stated that they can call the PC in and call the editor in if he is needed. At the District V meeting March 13th, Brothers Morris and L. Hanus were present and at the District II meeting March 27th, Brothers Mikeska and Vitek were present when I announced at both meetings that I would be present at the April 15th meeting to discuss the problems of delaying Necrology and other articles in the Vestnik, and made mention in passing again when present there Thurs-
