FROM THE ElliORT DESK A request to all our correspondents. This office has requested this a number of times before and w_e repeat it at this time. First we wish to make a correction in the Expression of Sympathy beginning on page 22, column 3 of the April 28th Vestnik, from Lodge 28, East Bernard. The article listed the deceased as Joe W. Litnik, and some survivors by the same name. The last name should have been Litvik in all cases. Now our requests: (1) Handwriting is very often hard to read and where names are used, would you please PRINT the names? (2) Where and when possible please double space (leave one line blank between written lines). (3) When possible please use only one side of paper; surely your lodge can furnish you the paper since you are a regular correspondent for the lodge. Sincerely, we regret all mistakes, however, sometimes it is impossible to read all the handwriting we receive. No offense meant. * * We were proud to see the picture in the Sunday, May 2, 1976 Ennis Daily News of the SPJST Lodge No. 25, Ennis, Float stating that it won the first place award — The Judges' Trophy. Our Society is proud of all connected with this effort! Good work! * * This issue of Vestnik is dated

QUOTES A big society is more or less blamed for being big, but it is only big because it gives service. If it doesn't give service, it gets small faster than it grew big. —Editor A man's grea tness is measured by his kindness, a man's intelect by his modesty, but a n'an's real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance he has for others. —W. J. Boetcker * * The best investment is in the tools of one's own trade. —Benjamin Franklin • * Nature is the most thrifty thing in the world; she never wastes anything; she undergoes change, but there's no annihilation . . . the —T. Binney essence remains. May 19th, and that leaves only two more regular issues (May 26 and June 2) before the quadrennial convention issue which will be dated June 9th and you will or should receive it during the week before the convening of our XXII Convention, which begins June 14. This should remind all of you who desire to do so, individuals, lodges, etc., to hurry and send your articles for the convention issue in to our office NOW! Please don't delay because TIME IS FLEETING! This issue is going to be bigger and

we will be very rushed to try to get all of the material included and some may have to be left out if you delay too long. We are depending on you to take notice of this. To many of us it seems only a few weeks ago that the Christmas season was here and it is only a few weeks before the date or. June 14th will be here! * • In this issue are some more Recommendations for By-Law Changes sent to us by By-Law Committee Secretary Sister Thelma Hrncir. They have not acted on them yet, and you are encouraged to read them. and, give them your attention and some serious thoughts, and be ready and capable to discuss them or at least act on them in an enlightened and Pintelligent, fraternal way when the time for doing so arrives. Every convention has given us some experience and taught us something as well as showing us some of the mistakes we make and our last one in 1972 was no exception. Here it may well be stated that it is much more desirable to discuss and act on matters on the convention floor than to do so in referendums by mail because in the convention questions for clarification of issues can be asked and answered, whereas otherwise you can only act to the best of your own knowledge on a mailed proposal and a person may not have all the facts
