FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK NOT'IC'E: THERE WILL BE NO VESTNIK PUBLISHED ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 9th, 1975. * * In last week's editorial we mentioned the fact that the contract with the publisher for our Vestnik calls for 52 issues per year, and that counting from Wednesday, January 1, 1975 to Wednesday, December 31, 1975, we have 53 issues. This does not happen very often and the thought occurred that this presented an excellent opportunity to give the employees at the printshop a vacation from their duties with the Vestnik. We have checked with Brother Ed Mazanec, chairman of the Publication Committee, the publisher, and notified the Supreme Lodge that the issue of the Vestnik which would be dated Wednesday, July 9, 1975, will not be published and will be omitted this year. This will give some of the Vestnik personnel the week of June 30th - July 5th off. Your editor will take care of incoming mail and necessary replies during that period. Here we would like to point out that the week of July 4th, as we have learned from experience, is generally a slow week for mail since the holiday slows the mail and folks just seem to be inclined to celebrate Independence Day and

THE TONGUE A slip of the foot you may soon recover, But a slip of the tongue, you may never get over. —Benjamin Franklin * * A tart temper never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use. —Washingten Irving * * "They are fools who kiss and tell" — Wisely has the poet sung. Man may hold all sorts of posts If he'll only hold his tongue. —Kipling have their minds on things other than writing to the Vestnik. We feel that this is a good time to pause for a short vacation and hope that it will not cause any hardship. However, since this is in the midst of our district YADs, your editor urges all correspondents, especially district youth counselors, youth leaders, and youth to please keep this in mind and send in their articles in time for the June 25th and July 2nd issues, since there will be no July 9th issue! Please keep this in mind! In the interim, good luck to all of our youth and be careful during your summer days. Remember "A

Happy Vacation is a NO ACCIDENT vacation. * * Sunday, June 8th was the first District Youth Achievement Day held this year at the Senior Citizens' Recreation Center in Seymour, which was an ideal place to hold a district event for a fine group of District IV youth who assembled to challenge each other in their talents and skills in arts and crafts from five youth clubs, in air-conditioned comfort. Beginning the program on time, everything was under way and each category was given attention and careful judging, including royalty competition. Prior to the coronation ceremonies, DYC Mary Haisler, acting as MC, recognized the out-of-town guests; District IV Director Stanley Broz, SYD Dorothy Massey, plus the editor and his spouse and Sister Angeline Kristinek, District IV PC member of Lubbock. Speaking of how time flies, Mrs. Peggy Jo (Simaichl) Blankenship (one of the judges) was the 1964 Miss SPJST contestant from District IV at the 19th SPJST Convention in Waco. She is always glad t3 be in the presence of her fellow SPJST brothers and sisters. She Is now the mother of two fine children. The family resides in Seymour where her husband teaches
