FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Sunday, August 18th — Several hundred people of our SPJST assembled to witness another successful State Youth Achievement Day at Temple High School. Numerous contestants appeared in their colorful costumes with props and musical equipment to challenge their opposition in a final endeavor to win first place in the state. The arts and crafts were also beautifully exhibited for the judges' to inspect and make their decisions. The entertainment comnienced with a colorful performance of two Beseda circles: one from Lodge 84, Dallas and the other from Lodge 88, Houston. Individual and group talent competition followed in their final state participation, holding the audience interested throughout the entirety of their performances, while tabulating, and other assignments were functioning properly behind the scenes. The editor was impressed with the increased quality of all the entries in all categories. We certainly can well be proud of our youth and value their talents and skills. When each winner was announced, there remained na doubt that each district had its share of supporters present. It also was apparent that there was much display of good sportsmanship among the contestants themselves when the winners congratulated their

presentation. SYD Dorothy Massey will have a complete report of all the winners.
