JANUARY 12, 1972

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Sunday, January 16, at 1:30 p.m., Lodge Borovy Haj (Pine Grove, in English) No. '74, Lovelady, near Crockett, will hold a social and reactivation to ;become much more active once again, after being dormant for quite some time. Your editor plans to attend (unless something unforseen occurs), and urges all the members of that lodge to do their best to attend. District II. Youth Director Frank Klinkovsky has a list of officers and members from Temple who plan to attend, included in his letter in this issue. This is a result of District Organizer Lad Zatopek's (Dist. II) and Brother Chester Shmoldas' efforts. Good work — where there's a will, there's a way!" The New Year is made for you — When you hang up that 1972 calendar this month, don't treat it lightly. Spend a moment affirming all the wonderful things the new year has in store for you. "What wonderful things?" you may ask. "My life is full of problems!" Of course, you have problems — everyone does at one time or another — but if you regard your problems as a challenge rather than a deterrent, the new year will be terrifically different for you. Here is something to do in 1972. Don't mull over the past. Extract what know-how it may have contained, then forget it. Look ahead — never back.

DANCE OF THE MONTHS The New Year comes in with shout and laughter, And see, twelve months are following after! First January all in White, And February short and bright; See breezy March go tearing round; But, tearful April makes no sound. May brings a pole with flowers crowned, And June strews roses on the ground. A pop! A bang! July comes in: Say August, "What a dreadful din!" September brings her golden sheaves; October weaves her pretty leaves. While pale November waits and see. December brings the Christmas tree. They join their hands to make a ring. And as they dance they merrily sing, "Twelve months we are, you see us here. We make the circle of the year. We sing and dance, and children dear. We wish you all the ,glad New Year!"

life by renewing your thoughts. If you are pessimistic about the new year, don't be. Change your thoughts — begin thinking hopefully and look for opportunities in every difficulty instead of difficulty in every opportunity. How you look at a problem makes all the difference. Your editor is reminded of a line from a poem which goes like this: "Two men look out the same window; one sees mud and the other sees stars." It is an interesting phenomenon how two people view the same situation so differently, according to how they think.

And have a goal, not a fuzzy one, but a sharp, clearly-defined goal. Hold it in the conscious mind until it sinks into the unconscious, and when it gets into the unconscious, you have it, for it has you. Remember, what you think in the year ahead will determine precisely what you are and the kind of world you live in. How you think determines what you become. You can transform yourself and your

During the holidays, your editor met an old acquaintance he hadn't seen for some time. "How have you been?" I asked. "Oh, not bad," he sighed sadly. "You mean things could be better?" I asked. "Well, actually, things are pretty good. But it can't go on this way for long! "he exclaimed. It's funny how this fellow, who has

Have you ever thought about why some people say a day is partly sunny and others, commenting on the same day, will say it is partly cloudy? It is the optimist who remembers the sunshine while the pessimist can only remember the dark clouds. Or if a glass of water is half full, the optimist will think of it that way. But the pessimist will say, "It's half, empty."
