A brief review of the lodges' representation at the recent 20th C'onvention, shows that eleven lodges entitled to delegate representation were not represented. They were: No. 10, Shiner (VI) No. 41, Port Lavaca (VI) No. 49, Rowena (IV) No. 64, Plum (I) No. 67, Schulenburg (1) No. 78, Jourdanton (VII) No. 106, La Grange (I) No. 128, Mart (III) No, 129, Edge (I) No. 148, Alvin (V) No. 163, Ilay City (V) There were 25 lodges not represented because they did not have sufficient membership to have a delegate. From the first group, 4 of the lodges are within one district and 4 of them are situated within about a 50-mile radius of one another. In the second group, 5 lodges are situated in the same general area in about 3 counties, in the middle of the so-called "Heartland and Cradle of the SPJST," the area where the SPJST had its beginning 71 years ago. This is also an area where there is a large Czech population, probably the largest in the state. What happened? Why is our activity so dormant in this area? The 25CeehTexans who met in the Fayette County Courthouse in La Grange on December 28, 1896, would surely hot be too happy about the, geographic cradle of the SPJST being in a dormant stage. It would be interesting to delve into this question in depth. Labor Day - 1968. We celebrated Labor Day a couple of days ago, but it might be well to reflect for a moment on the many benefits that labor has brought to people in this country. Labor Day Provides a time for all to salute the millions of men and women who ate Arherica's workforce. In turn, it seeMS like an opportune time for
