QUOTES.. .

Our fall district meetings will soon be getting under way. District VI is first in line with their meeting at Hillje on September 25th. The following Sunday, Dist. VII holds their's at Jourdanton; etc. The dates and places of these meetings have been announced in the "Bulletin Board" seciton of the Vestnik for many weeks, in some cases, months. Consequently, no one can use the excuse that they did not know about these meetings for not showing up. Important items will be discussed in all of the districts, and it behooves the membership to be present and contribute their share of ideas and opinions. Incidentally, two districts (V and II) have already set the dates of their sphing 196? meeting. This tight money market has generated a tremendous demand for financing from life insurance companies in the first half of 1966. They too, have found their investment funds depleted. One of nation's largest companies recently passed word to their investment brokers that no more money will be available until January 1967 — maybe. A life insurance company's investments represent mainly funds set aside to meet future obligations to policyholders. The SPJST is no exception, and we have had to curtail sharply our lending practices, and then only to members. This tight money situation has also been causing policyholders to borrow more heavily on their life insurance. Nationwide, it has amounted to almost 1.1 billion dollars more in the first half of 1966 than in the same period of 1965. In the S. P. 3. S. T., a member who has paid premiums on his policy for a period of three years, may obtain a loan against his reserves, not to exceed the loan value specified in the tables for his certificate. The 5% interest on the borrowed principal may be repaid at any time, but the principal need not be paid unitl the member dies, the amount owed being de-
