CHAIRMAN’S CORNER

February always feels like a pivot point. The holidays are firmly behind us, calendars are full again, and the year has enough momentum that intentions start turning into outcomes.

By now, many of us have settled back into a rhythm technically, professionally, and personally. For our section, that rhythm is beginning to show itself in the form of stronger attendance, more deliberate programming, and renewed engagement across our study groups and committees. That is exactly where we hoped to be at this point in the year.

One of the themes that continues to stand out to me is intentionality. Over the past several months, our Board of Directors has spent a great deal of time asking a simple question: How do we deliver the most value to our members with the time and resources we have? The answer isn’t always obvious, but the process itself has been productive. It has led to more focused technical sessions, improved coordination between committees, and better alignment with the needs of operators, service companies, and young professionals alike.

Our Study Groups, in particular, continue to do outstanding work. The 90-day event outlook has already proven its worth, giving members the ability to plan ahead while allowing chairs to be more thoughtful in topic selection and speaker engagement. The result has been stronger participation and higher-quality discussions — exactly what a technical society should strive for.

February also marks an important point in the rollout of our Annual Section Sponsorship Campaign. For the membership, I want to reiterate why this initiative matters. A more predictable, transparent sponsorship structure allows us to plan better events, fund scholarships responsibly, and reduce the uncertainty that comes with mid-year fundraising. Most importantly, it respects the realities of budgeting cycles across our industry while strengthening the partnerships that make our section possible.

Beyond programming and sponsorships, I want to pause and acknowledge something that doesn’t always make it into these letters: the people doing the work behind the scenes. Committee Chairs, volunteers, and Board members are committing real time and energy often outside of already demanding professional schedules to keep this section moving forward. That e ort does not go unnoticed, and I am genuinely grateful for it.

CHAIRMAN’S CORNER

As we move toward spring, there is a sense of optimism that feels well-earned. The challenges facing our industry haven’t disappeared, but neither has our ability to adapt, collaborate, and innovate. That resilience continues to define the Permian Basin and the professionals who call it home.

Thank you for staying engaged, for showing up, and for continuing to invest in this community. I look forward to seeing many of you at an upcoming event and to building on the momentum we’ve created together.

Stay Connected: Be sure to mark your calendars for the upcoming events and take advantage of these valuable networking and learning opportuni es. More details on our events calendar are coming soon!
