HRG adds Livbud to its range of dining options Staff Report

Livbud softly opened last week in the vibrant Fremont/ Wallingford neighborhood. Named after Heavy Restaurant Group (HRG) owners Larry and Tabitha Kurofsky’s two children, Olivia and Ethan (Liv and Bud), Livbud’s menu focuses on nutrient-dense ingredients, with coffee, smoothies, cocktails, taps, natural wine, and plant-forward/pescatarian offerings. This new adventure for HRG features a large community table and an open kitchen concept, allowing guests to connect with each other and the chefs. The goal is to inspire balance with a menu and relaxed environment that encourages healthy living and positive energy. The menu is comprised

of mostly plants, fungi, and fish, and is free from refined sugars, additives, chemicals, and processed foods. A diverse offering of liquids is focused on moods for different parts of the day; the 25 taps feature local makers of cider, kombucha, and beer. Herkimer Coffee provides espresso, drip and nitro cold brew. The open space is inspired by the natural environments of Southern and Baja California. Sustainable Ballard’s Edible Garden Tour set for June 24 Staff Report

Each year, Sustainable Ballard hosts a fun tour highlighting many interesting edible gardens across our neighborhood. The tour includes multiple gardens to explore within walking distance of each other. For those who have never been, plan to spend a day walking or biking through Ballard to discover how your neighbors raise urban fruits and vegetables. Chat with the home gardeners themselves to learn the magic behind their masterpieces. If you’re new to gardening, we hope that you can join us at the Edible Garden Tour to see what

other gardeners in the neighborhood are doing and get some useful tips. This walking or biking tour of neighborhood gardens in Northeast Ballard includes planting strips, containers, raised beds, chickens, and all sorts of creative edibles from fruit trees to berries to veggies galore. The start point at Kirke Park will feature live music, a raffle and many gardening resources.
