DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY COMMITTEE INITIATIVES Self-care Week Both venues participated in Self-Care Week, a week designed to help staff learn simple ways to care for themselves, slow down, and take a mindful moment. Throughout the week, we shared daily self-care tips and hosted activities that encouraged everyone to practice wellness in meaningful, hands-on ways. Daily Self-Care Tips Throughout the week, we shared daily reminders and simple practices to help you prioritize your well-being—whether it was clearing your mind, staying hydrated, or finding small ways to recharge. Sound Bath at SPCC At the Salt Palace, staff were invited to unwind with a restorative sound bath, offering a peaceful break through soothing tones and deep relaxation.
Yoga at MAEC A yoga session was held at Mountain America Expo Center, focusing on stress relief, mindfulness, and gentle movement.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month The Salt Palace Convention Center and Mountain America Expo Center proudly hosted the first breast cancer screen event with the Boob Bus, serving 12 staff members during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We hope to continue this meaningful initiative next year. This bus offers mobile mammograms to women, aiming to normalize both medically necessary and elective procedures in a fun, supportive, and easy-to-access environment. It’s a powerful step toward improving women’s health and wellness.
Thank you to Sodexo Live! and Visit Salt Lake for joining us in supporting the Boob Bus and helping make a positive impact on women’s health. 4
Hispanic Heritage Month
This fall, the Salt Palace Convention Center and Mountain America Expo Center celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with an array of meaningful activities honoring the incredible culture and history of Hispanic and LatinX communities. Our team members we’re excited to learn about and celebrate the cultures that make our workplace and community so vibrant.
Here’s how we celebrated: Lunch & Learn – We shared delicious snacks from Hispanic cultures while learning about the rich traditions and histories behind them. The Pan Ducles from Panaderia Alicia's were a hit! Flag & Influential Poster Challenge – Team members tested their knowledge of Hispanic flags and influential figures for a chance to win fun prizes! Lotería Game Day – We gathered to play Lotería, a traditional Mexican game (similar to Bingo), as we won prizes, shared laughter, and had some friendly competition, of course. Día de los Muertos Ofrenda – To end the month, we set up a beautiful ofrenda to honor and remember loved ones who have passed, embracing a deeply meaningful cultural tradition. 5

CLEAR THE AIR CHALLENGE In September, the Salt Palace Convention Center and the Mountain America Expo Center participated in a fall Clear the Air Challenge, reducing emissions and promoting cleaner air. Throughout the month, our teams tracked their mileage and explored ways to cut back on their car emissions.
SKIP THE DRIVE, TAKE A RIDE As part of the Clear The Air Challenge, we hosted Skip the Drive, Take a Ride Day, encouraging staff to use public transportation for their commute. Team members who participated were treated to a sweet reward—a jar of honey harvested from our very own beehives! Our in-house hospitality partners were also invited to take part in both of these events, helping make this initiative a collaborative effort toward cleaner air and a more sustainable community.
