From the Golf Shop
The calendar turns to May! The Masters is in our rearview mirror. Our Golf Course and Practice Facilities are just about healed from the Spring Maintenance & Aeration Project ... THE 2025 GOLF SEASON IS HERE!
Speaking of the 2025 Masters Tournament, what a rollercoaster of a Final Round for Rory McIlroy! He courageously stared down his Augusta National GC demons to win his Green Jacket, plus becoming the 6th PGA TOUR Golfer to have won the “Grand Slam” of Majors I got to walk the hallowed grounds at Augusta National GC on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday of the Tournament week It’s such a special place I know most of you have “attend The Masters Tournament” on your Golf Bucket List – go as soon as you can, it’s all worth it!
GOLF AT THE CLUB: Our 2025 SPCC Opening Day Four-Player Scramble was on April 5th, which officially kicked off the 2025 Tournament Season at the Club. This Opening Day Scramble is the 1st Qualifier Event for the NEW 2025 SPCC Centennial Cup Series Our MGA’s April 27th Game was our 2nd Event of this new Tournament Series. We have 13 more to participate in via the Men’s Open Division, Women’s Open Division, and Senior Men’s Division Be a part of this new Tournament Series by playing in as many as 15 CC Qualifying Events you can.
MSGA: We started the Active MSGA Score-Posting Season on March 15th for local play. During the Irrigation Project, we will have 1-2 holes closed during play. When we do, please play those 16-17 holes on our Championship Course, then head over to the 4-hole Loop to complete your 18. Play a couple of extra Holes while you’re at it! For MSGA Score-Posting, when we have holes that are closed on our Championship Course, Members need to post their hole-by-hole scores per the USGA/WHS only on those holes played. The USGA/WHS System will automatically calculate an 18-hole differential/expected differential for that Round. If you have any questions about this, please see one of the Golf Professional Staff.
COURSE UPDATE: The Golf Course Irrigation Project is almost completed. We’re excited to see this Project help our golf course continue to grow and be as healthy as possible throughout the warmer periods of the year We will be seeing an improvement in the quality plus consistency of the course conditions after this project is completed. Be on the lookout for continued updates from our Maintenance Crew and Management Team We will continue to announce any golf course routing interruptions, etc., as the Irrigation Project finishes this month.
JUNIOR CAMP: Our SPCC Summer Junior Golf Camps are still open for registration and are beginning to fill up quickly. We’ve planned six weeks of summer fun, golf, and swimming with these Camp Weeks in June and July. Summer is almost here - Register your Junior Golfer today!
LEANING ON THE LOOP: Our Spring Learning on the Loop Clinic Series continues into early May. This Clinic Series is an excellent way to get the rust off your game/swing plus pinpointing specific fundamentals and techniques to start your Golf Season strong Rob Moore’s “Master Your Game” Clinic Series begins the first week of May and runs for six weeks working on some key disciplines of your Game Stop in the Pro Shop for more details
We have our 2025 SPCC Golf Information “Blue Books” available in the Golf Shop and Clubhouse. Please pick up your copy next time at the Club.
Senior Men’s Golf Group

Chef’s Treat of the Month Cherry-Chocolate Crème Brulee
Ingredients
3 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
3 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
8 large egg yolks
3/4 cups of sugar
3 cups of heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
One 16-ounce jar sour cherries in light syrup, drained and patted dry
Instructions / Preparation
Place bittersweet and semisweet chocolates in a medium bowl and rest a fine-mesh sieve on top. 1.
2.
3.
In a large bowl, whisk egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar until light yellow, about 3 minutes.
In a medium pan, bring cream to a boil, then remove from heat. Slowly whisk one-third of the hot cream into the egg yolks. Whisk the tempered yolks into the remaining cream and cook over medium-low heat, whisking gently without boiling. Once thickened and coating the back of a spoon, immediately pour through the sieve over the chocolate. Stir until smooth, then add vanilla.
4.
5.

Divide cherries among six 8-oz ramekins. Pour chocolate custard over cherries and let cool to room temp. Refrigerate until firm, about 4 hours.
Preheat broiler. Place ramekins on a baking sheet and sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup sugar on top. Broil about 4 inches from heat until sugar is golden and caramelized, or use a kitchen torch. Serve immediately.
