Club Update

DearMembers,

On behalf of the entire team, thank you for taking the time to participate in our bi-annual member survey. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we deeply value the insights youshared.Eachresponsehelpsguideoureffortstoenhancetheoverallmemberexperience, both in the services we provide and the ways we continue to grow as a community. We are carefully reviewing the results and look forward to sharing some of the key takeaways and actionitemsinthecomingweeks.

As we continue our search for the Club’s next Executive Chef and Sous Chef, we want to acknowledge that you may have experienced some recent inconsistencies in the food service. We understand how important a high-quality dining experience is to our members, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this transitional period. Our team is working diligently to maintain our standards and ensure smooth operation as we move through the hiring process. We remain committed to delivering the exceptional service you expect and deserve, and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead as we strengthen our culinaryleadership.

The entire SPCC team deserves high praise for the outstanding execution of this year’s MemberGuest Tournament. The event was run with precision, professionalism, and great spirit. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our Food & Beverage, Golf Operations, and Course Maintenance teams, as well as everyone behind the scenes, who helped make the weekend such a memorable celebration of camaraderie and competition. We’d also like to extend special thanks to Ron Belbot and Fred Rich for their support and guidance in the planning process. Their insight and deep knowledge of this event were truly invaluable. It was clear from the smiles and stories shared that everyone had a fantastic time. If you were not able to join us this year, we hope you’ll consider attending next year, we are confident it will be just as special!

Join us over the Fourth of July weekend for a full lineup of festive fun and summer celebration. The pool will be the center of excitement with a full day of activities for kids, including the giant water slide, musical BINGO with a DJ, and more surprises throughout the day. Adults can look forward to tastings from our beverage partners, plus the muchanticipated return of the Patron Margarita Bike. Of course, no Fourth of July celebration would be complete without a classic Barbecue Buffet on the patio, paired perfectly with your favorite summer drink. Come relax, celebrate, and make some unforgettable holiday memoriesattheClub!

Feel free to contact me at any time if I can be of service to you. My direct line is 410-477-0220 extension 9, and my email is mtroyner@spcc1925.com. The membership's unwavering backing and advocacy for the Club is greatly valued, and I want to express my appreciation.

Agronomy

Our spring rain has been a little late this year since we saw most of it come in June! March, April, and May, we had about 3 inches of rain total, and since we’ve finished the irrigation installation, we have received double that from mid-May through June. Fortunately, we have had some days in between and not just the big downpours or tornadoes, so it has been beneficial for the grass, and our drought conditions are going away. After thetornadowehadabout2weeksofcleanupalongwithkeepingupwiththe maintenance of the course so still some stumps and holes caused by falling limbstofillandseed/sod.

With the heat of summer coming and the extra rain, we will be implementing cultural practices for the greens to help get through the mid-Atlantic summer. Keeping up with the fungicide applications is key, as well as managing the amount of water being used to keep them alive through the most stressful time of the year. Too little water and the greens can dry out and not be able to cool themselves in the heat, and too much the playability suffers as well as causing more disease pressure. The new irrigation system helps us get water to where we need it, but even with the sprinkler heads, we will be out with hoses to keep areas that lose more water at the correct amount. Along with proper water management, we will be “venting” greens, which is taking the aerifier out and making small holes togetairintothesoilaswellashelpingthegreensdryoutsometoaidwith thediseasepressure.Thesmallholeswillbenoticeableforacoupleofdays but won’t affect ball roll. We will do this once a month at least throughout thesummer.

Hopefully, our summer isn’t as hot as last year, but with the new irrigation systemandsomedifferentculturalpractices, wewillbebetterpreparedfor theunpredictableweather!Seeyouonthecourse!
