Thank you to everyone who supported our project.

Who else but Jacopo Spangaro could have imagined hosting a watch auction on a padel court? I suspect his long-term goal is to make one at the center of the Olympic Stadium. Among all padel courts, he couldn’t have chosen a more elegant one than the Padel Resort in Como. A place for those who, after sweating it out on the court, seek top-quality relaxation and fine dining. Two experiences embedded in the DNA of Spangaro Aste’s auction-events, which always pair watchmaking with other genuine passions—not only masculine ones, as we have been, unfortunately, accustomed to in the past. The selection of lots is always diverse, featuring both original pieces and iconic watches, while taking the road less traveled—steering clear of the speculative trends that have dominated the last two years. Speculation which, let’s be honest, only concerned three brands and a handful of watches. Let me express my relief that this era is finally over. No more calls from long-lost contacts, old classmates, exes, and university colleagues who remembered me just to ask: “Can you find me a Pepsi?”; “What about a 5711?” Today it’s our turn. We—the true enthusiasts and collectors—who have spent hours on books, magazines, and auction catalogs, building our knowledge and developing a taste independent of trends or the illusion of quick profit. We buy what satisfies our craving for a unique object. One with a story of its own, to which we can add a new chapter. No one has ever seen a mainstream model on our wrist. And how many times have we convinced a friend to buy a watch they had never heard of, only to hear them thank us years later, perhaps after having proudly passed it on to their son? This is who we are: connoisseurs and ambassadors of Watchmaking with a capital “W”. So here we are, browsing through the catalog of Jacopo’s latest auction. Because he is one of us.

Founded in Udine in 1983, Spangaro & Co has successfully upheld the fine tradition of watchmaking and jewelry for over forty years, constantly pursuing the best craftsmanship techniques. After years of collaborating with major international auction houses, Spangaro & Co faced a crucial decision: follow the trend of accessible timepieces or establish its own auction house. The aim? To create a place where objects tell precious stories of people and places through time. In a world driven by consumerism, it’s essential to create an auction where the protagonists are not mere dealers, but passionate experts. Choosing Udine as its base was a strategic move, as it lies at the crossroads of Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. Spangaro & Co is not just an institution—it’s a lifestyle expressed in four simple words: think outside the box. Our philosophy is rooted in a desire to revolutionize the traditional concept of auctions by crafting an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience. What drives us is the continuous search for beauty, a common thread running through every aspect of our work. This pursuit spans three main sectors: watches, jewelry, and design. The Spangaro & Co Auction House is headquartered in the historic Palazzo Sommariva, a majestic architectural landmark designed in 1937 by Friulian architect Midena. For Spangaro & Co, this is also a return to its roots—its first premises in 1983 were located right in Palazzo Sommariva.

PADEL & PADDLE MAKE THE MATCH POINT YOURS

Padel & Paddle takes the auction format into a whole new dimension. This time, we envisioned the most fitting location for a fierce competition among bidders—of course, with a paddle in hand. And what could be more appropriate than a padel court? The association might seem forced if we only consider etymology: padel – paddle tennis – paddle – bidding paddle (even more intuitive in Spanish, where pala means racket and paddle). But to conceive an event-auction, analogies aren’t enough. There must be a deep connection between passions, interests, and emotions. And sports offer a range of feelings that make us feel good—whether as players or spectators. Sporting passion belongs to the same personal realm as the love for watches. Like a padel match, a watch auction is followed by stories, anecdotes, and tales. Bids can be swift or hard-fought, thrilling or disappointing—just like a winning or missed shot. Once again, focusing on the adrenaline coursing through the veins of Spangaro auction participants, we paired the thrill of the challenge with the speed of Maserati cars, courtesy of Scuderia Blu, the Como-based concept store of the Trident brand. A visionary venue, born from the creativity of the Parolini family, who embraced the Padel & Paddle project and welcomed us into the luxurious Padel Resort in Como, the new backdrop for this latest auction.

THE PADEL RESORT The urban regeneration project “The Padel Resort” centers on personal wellbeing. Strongly desired and brought to life by the Parolini family, its goal was to revive and redevelop the industrial area of Via Pasquale Paoli in Como through a cutting-edge hospitality concept. A place designed for relaxation and leisure with a homely atmosphere, but above all a destination to reconnect with oneself—away from daily chaos. On a total area of 17,000 sqm, the resort features eleven padel courts (nine indoor), a gym, a fine dining restaurant, a lounge bar, coworking space, heated swimming pool, boutique hotel, and a Maserati dealership. A true oasis of contemporary luxury, The Padel Resort offers its guests a wide array of opportunities, from physical activity to culinary pleasures.

MASERATI SCUDERIA BLU Scuderia Blu represents the Maserati dealerships of Iperauto Spa, founded in 1988 in Berbenno di Valtellina (Sondrio province) with the Ford brand. Over the years, the company expanded with branches in the provinces of Lecco, Como, Bergamo, Pavia, and Piacenza, and added brands like Mazda, Volvo, Kia, Porsche, and MG. In 2014, Maserati dealerships opened in Como and Bergamo, and in 2024, Scuderia Blu celebrated its 10th anniversary by inaugurating a new showroom in Como. This new retail concept blends elegant tailoring with the authenticity of a workshop, enabling clients to fully express their passion in creating their own luxury cars— highlighting the Italian spirit and sporty essence of the brand. All this is part of an urban regeneration project envisioned by the Parolini family, who restored life and prestige to a once-abandoned commercial area.

Our selection prioritises unique objects, with unusual variants or ageing and toning that develop, like colours on a canvas, true works of art that cannot be replicated in series, adding a distinctive feature to the timepiece. The Rolex Explorer II ref. 16550 with white dial is one of Rolex’s most recognisable vintage sports wristwatches. From the 1980s, this example, known to enthusiasts as the ‘Pannone’, reflects that small percentage of watches produced with a white dial, which developed a creamy hue, making it very rare. Introduced in 1985, Ref. 16550 was a transitional model of the Explorer II, with a short production

run of around four years. The reference features polished white gold applied hour markers with luminescence. This example, unlike those that have appeared more frequently on the market, has a ‘cream’ dial from around 1985/’86 and features the typical characteristics of the transitional period, a year and a half before the reference was completely discontinued, in which the indices were characterised by an intriguing dark outline. Equipped with an equally extraordinary uniform patina and ‘rail’ graphics, it is preserved in excellent condition and comes with its own set. Lot 9 is a ‘must have’ in our Padel & Paddle auction.

Produced between 1955 and 1959, the Rolex Submariner ref. 6536/1 is the successor to the ref. 6536 and the historic Submariner ref. 6538 models, also known as the “Big Crown.” It stands out for its smaller crown — 6 mm in diameter compared to the previous 8 mm. Today, this model is one of the most sought-after vintage Submariner references, thanks to its 37 mm stainless steel Oyster case. Extremely desirable for the excellent condition of its case and dial — as well as the bezel insert, which still clearly displays the iconic red triangle — it also features well-preserved and highly legible gilt printing and the charming retro-vintage look of its riveted bracelet. Entirely preserved in its original configuration, it stands out as one of the most desirable lots in our selection.

Among the most iconic and admired wrist chronographs by collectors, there is the Rolex Daytona line. The Daytona model has a long-standing history and a symbiotic relationship between the Geneva-based watchmaker and the world of motor racing. While autonomy, precision, and legibility were key requirements for wrist chronographs, over time the Daytona has become more of a revered status symbol than a time-measuring tool. In 1969, Rolex simultaneously introduced references 6263 and 6265, which replaced the first Oyster Cosmograph, ref. 6240.

The Cosmograph Daytona with screw-down pushers was produced for nearly 20 years and was offered in stainless steel, 18kt, and 14kt gold. The screw-down pushers provided improved water and weather resistance for these new references. This lot belongs to the early generation of ref. 6265, distinguished by its black dial - one of the most sought-after by collectors - marked “t swiss t” and characterized by sub-dials that have aged to a creamy hue. Featuring its original folded-link bracelet and preserved in good overall condition, it stands out as one of the top lots of the Padel e Paddle auction.

€ Introduced for the first time in 1959, the ref. 1675 replaced the first GMT-Master ref. 6542, a milestone for Rolex. The innovations introduced in this model included the presence of a metal insert in the bezel, replacing the previous, more fragile bakelite insert, as well as the addition of crown guards to ensure greater robustness, and an updated caliber 1560. Once again, Rolex focused on the durability and solid construction of its timepieces, making it, as is well known, its hallmark. With a production run of 21 years, the ref. 1675 was released in several dial variations, some rarer than others.

serial number 877,000, it corresponds to the typical configuration of the era. This particular example features a “stardust” dial and a patina that speaks of a bygone time. The crown guards are pointed. Pointed crown guards were used by Rolex for a very short period before being replaced with more rounded ones. To further enhance its appeal, it features a bezel with a pink/ blue hue. A truly unique timepiece.

The first examples of the reference featured a glossy black dial, with or without minute markers. The references from the early 1960s had an “underline” on the dial, with a single or double “Swiss” designation at the bottom of the dial. According to many scholars and accredited collectors, the “underline” signifies the transition from radium to tritium as the luminescent material. Throughout its history, Audemars Piguet has always combined classicism with creativity. For example, in the post-war era—a time when round-shaped watches dominated the market— the brand continued to exercise its imagination, offering cases in a wide variety of shapes. This creative approach eventually led, in the 1970s, to the development of watches with integrated bracelets. Launched in 1967, the Rolex Sea-Dweller ref. 1665 was created to meet the needs of professional divers who required a watch capable of withstanding high underwater pressures beyond the limits of the Submariner, which for the ref. 1680 could reach a nominal depth of 220 meters. The Sea-Dweller ref. 1665, however, reaches a depth of 610 meters (2000 feet), tripling the ref. 1680. The production involved a collaboration with divers to improve the model’s resistance to depth and usage. This watch belonged to Fabio Pajoncini Ottaviani, also known as “Il Duca,” who set a world depth record for autonomous diving in 2004 in Ponza and Palmarola. The Sea-Dweller differs from other diving models from the Swiss brand by its ingenious helium escape valve. Deep underwater atmospheres are rich in helium, and the molecules of helium are smaller than those of oxygen, thus infiltrating the watch and causing the crystal to detach during ascent.

The valve was developed to prevent this issue, allowing the gas to escape and reducing the pressure inside the watch. The Sea-Dweller was specifically designed for those who work or live underwater. While early models of the Sea-Dweller ref. 1665 had two red inscriptions above the depth value (earning the nickname “Double Red”), later models lack the red text. This particular example from 1978, with a serial number of 5.2 million, belongs to the Mk IV variant. In excellent condition, it is one of the highlights of Padel & Paddle.

When Spangaro & Co Aste displays the lots subject to auction for the benefit of interested parties, anyone wishing to obtain more information on a lot on display must request the assistance of personnel specifically indicated by Spangaro & Co Aste. The request to participate in the auction implies the express acceptance of these conditions, even by way of risk.

5.8. The numbered paddle or access credentials are strictly personal to the person authorised to participate in the auction, who must keep them with the utmost care and must not disclose them or allow their use by any third party. 5.9. Any loss of the paddle or login credentials must be immediately reported to the auctioneer’s assistant, who will provide the participant with a new paddle or new credentials. At the end of the auction, the paddle must be returned to the registration desk. Auction Management 5.10. The auction is conducted by the auctioneer, starting from the offer he considers adequate, based on the value of the lot and the competing offers. 5.11. The auctioneer may open the bidding on each lot by making a bid in the interest of the Seller. The auctioneer may also make bids in the interest of the Seller, up to the amount of the Reserve, by making consecutive bids or in response to other bids. 5.12. The Auctioneer may, in his sole discretion and at any time during the auction: (i) withdraw a lot from the auction; (ii) reformulate an offer to sell a lot, if he has reason to believe that there is an error, or a dispute or even just a simple misunderstanding; and (iii) take any action it deems appropriate under the circumstances, such as combining or separating lots or changing their order of sale, provided that the lot is not offered outside of the auction. (iv) to refuse any bid, withdraw any lot, re-offer a lot for sale (including after the fall of the hammer) if he or she believes there may be error or dispute and take such other action as he or she deems reasonably appropriate, inlcuding and not limited to any bid received by the auctioneer via third party platform such as but not limited to LiveAuctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Drouot.com. Spangaro & Co Aste shall have no liability whatsoever for any such action taken by the auctioneer. If any dispute arises after the sale, our sale record is conclusive. The auctioneer can, in the case of error or dispute related to bidding and whether during or after the auction, determine the successful bidder, cancel the sale, or reoffer and resell any lot. If you believe that the auctioneer has accepted the successful bid in error, you must provide a written notice detailing your claim within 3 business days of the date of the auction. The auctioneer will consider such claim in good faith. If the auctioneer, in the exercise of his or her discretion, decides after the auction is complete, to cancel the sale of a lot, or reoffer and resell a lot, will do so in good faith and he or she will notify the successful bidder no later than by the end of the 7th calendar day following the date of the auction. For goods of cultural interest, the Seller will report the sale to the competent Ministry pursuant to Article 59 of the Cultural Heritage Code and the sale will be subject to the suspensive condition of the failure of the competent Ministry to exercise the right of pre-emption within sixty (60) days from the date of receipt of the report, or within the greater term of one hundred and eighty (180) days pursuant to Article 61, paragraph 2, of the Cultural Heritage Code. Pending the term for the exercise of the pre-emption right, the lot cannot be delivered to the Buyer, as provided for by Article 61 of the Cultural Heritage Code. 5.30. If the Buyer is a Consumer, the sale is also governed by the Consumer Code. In this case, however, pursuant to Article 59, paragraph 1, letter m), of the Consumer Code, pursuant to Article 45, paragraph 1, letter o), of the Consumer Code, the Buyer will not have the right of withdrawal provided for distance contracts, as the sale is concluded at a public auction. Payment of the Total Amount Due 5.31. The Buyer will pay the Total Amount Due no later than five (5) days from the day of the award or, in the cases referred to in the previous article 5.28 , from the day of failure to exercise the pre-emption right. 5.32. Payment will be made to Spangaro & Co Aste, as the Seller’s collection agent under the Commission Agreement, as follows: -in cash, for amounts within the maximum limit permitted by the applicable provisions; - by bank transfer, to the following current account opened by Spangaro & Co Aste: Bank: Credit Agricole Italia S.p.A. IBAN: IT22V0623012304000015929148 ABI: 06230 C.A.B.: 12304 B.I.C.: CRPPIT2P401 - by debit card, Visa or Mastercard credit card (not American Express), provided that the payment is made by the cardholder or by the holder of the relevant account. 5.33. Spangaro & Co Aste reserves the right to check the origin of payments received and not to accept payments from people other than the Buyer. 5.34. In the event of late payment, default interest will be applied at a rate of five percent (5.00%) per annum and Spangaro & Co Aste will be entitled, at its option, to: (i) request the fulfillment, or to terminate the sales contract pursuant to Article 1456 of the Civil Code, without prejudice in any case to the right to compensation for damages; or (ii) have the lot sold on behalf and at the expense of the Buyer, pursuant to Article 1515 of the Civil Code. Delivery of the awarded lot. 5.35. Co Aste headquarters within and no later than thirty (30) working days from the day of the award, provided that it has previously received full payment of the Total Amount Due. 5.36. In the event of late payment, Spangaro & Co Aste may deposit the lot with a third party depositary at the risk and expense of the Buyer or with itself, applying as a deposit fee an amount equal to Euro 3.33 (three point thirty-three ) per cubic meter for each day of storage. 5.37. In the event of death, interdiction, incapacity, extinction, for any reason, of the Buyer, duly communicated to Spangaro & Co Aste, the latter will deliver the lot upon written agreement of all the Buyer’s beneficiaries or according to the methods established by the judicial authority. 5.38. If the Buyer does not collect the lot,

even though he has paid for it, within thirty (30) days from the day of the award, for each month (or fraction of a month) of delay Spangaro & Co Aste will charge the Buyer the transport costs and an amount equal to: for jewellery and watches, five percent (5.00%) of the Price per year; and for other types of Goods Euro 500.00 (five hundred) per square meter per month (or fraction of a month), in addition in any case to any additional damages. Shipping 5.39. Upon written request from the Buyer, Spangaro & Co Aste may organize the packaging and shipping of the lot provided that the Buyer: (i) has paid the Full Amount Due in full; (ii) provide Spangaro & Co Aste with any certificates of free circulation or export licences or any attestations and/or certifications necessary for this purpose. 5.40. Unless otherwise agreed in writing with the Buyer: (i) the packing and shipping costs are the responsibility of the Buyer who may request, at least twenty-four (24) hours before the start of the auction, cost estimates if he intends to entrust Spangaro & Co Aste with the packing and shipping of the lot; (ii) insurance coverage aimed at covering the risk of losses and/or damages (even partial) that the lot may suffer during transport must be agreed between the Buyer and the transporter without any liability for Spangaro & Co Aste; (iii) the cost of insurance coverage will be at the expense of the Buyer. 5.41. The packing and shipping of the lot to the Buyer are entirely at the risk and expense of the Buyer and Spangaro & Co Aste assumes no responsibility for actions or omissions of the packing personnel or transporters. 5.42. In the event of export of the lot outside the territory of the Italian Republic, the issue of the certificate of free circulation or export license is the responsibility of the Buyer. Failure or delay in issuing the certificate of free circulation or export license does not constitute a cause for termination or cancellation of the sale, nor does it justify delayed payment by the Buyer of the Total Amount Due. 5.43. Lots consisting of or containing parts of plants or animals (e.g. coral, crocodile, ivory, whalebone, tortoise), regardless of age and value, may require a license or certificate prior to export and may require additional licenses or certificates for import into countries outside the European Union. Obtaining an import license or certificate does not guarantee any export license or certificate and vice versa. Spangaro & Co Aste advises potential Buyers to check the provisions in their country regarding the import of goods made with or containing protected species. It is the responsibility of each participant in the auction to obtain such import or export licenses/certificates, as well as any other documents required before making any bid.

All disputes relating to the application, execution and interpretation of the General Conditions of Sale will be exclusively devolved to the Italian jurisdiction and to the exclusive territorial jurisdiction of the court of Milan. 7.3. The application to Buyers who are consumers pursuant to Article 3 of the Consumer Code who do not have their habitual residence in Italy of any more favorable and mandatory provisions provided by the law of the country in which they have their habitual residence is reserved. For any dispute relating to the application, execution and interpretation of the General Conditions of Sale, the competent court is the court of the place in which the Consumer Buyer resides or has elected domicile. 7.4. The Consumer Buyer residing in a member state of the European Union other than Italy may also access, for any dispute relating to the application, execution and interpretation of these General Conditions of Sale, the European procedure established for small claims disputes, by Regulation (EC) no. 861/2007 of the Council, of 11 July 2007, provided that the value of the dispute does not exceed, excluding interest, rights and expenses, Euro 2,000.00. Pursuant to Article 141- sexies , paragraph 3, of the Consumer Code, Spangaro & Co Aste informs the Consumer that, in the event that he has submitted a complaint directly to Spangaro & Co Aste, following which it has not been possible to resolve the dispute thus arising, Spangaro & Co Aste will provide information regarding the body or bodies for the extrajudicial resolution of disputes relating to obligations arising from a contract concluded on the basis of these General Conditions of Sale (so-called ADR bodies, as indicated in Articles 141- bis and following of the Consumer Code), specifying whether or not he intends to avail himself of such bodies to resolve the dispute itself. Spangaro & Co Aste also informs the subjects who have the qualification of Consumer that a European platform for the online resolution of consumer disputes (so-called ODR platform) has been established.
