The Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition celebrates regional artists and recognizes excellence with Merit and Purchase Awards. Invitation to submit was extended to artists working in all media and residing in Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skamania, Thurston, and Wahkiakum counties. The annual exhibition draws a healthy response from the community, this year twenty-eight works were selected from among one hundred fifty four entries. Of those works included in the exhibition, two were selected for purchase and inclusion in the College’s permanent art collection to be displayed around campus, and four others were given Merit Awards. These award winning artists were invited back to exhibit together at the Juror’s Invitational in 2020. The Gallery was pleased to have Dawna Holloway, founder and director of Georgetown’s studio e, in Seattle, WA, as juror for this 2019 exhibition. Holloway’s expert assessment of the many submissions produced a striking and thought provoking exhibition. Our deepest thanks go out to Dawna Holloway. The exhibition was made possible through a variety of on and off campus contributors. Many thanks to all who have contributed time, talent, and resources. Production of this catalog was made possible through the sponsorship of April Works. Her generosity has allowed every submitting artist to receive a copy, each copy serving as a powerful reminder of the region’s creative spirit.
