I get to have the privilege and honor to run a program that sets our sights on this cornerstone: growth. I get the opportunity to find young men from all over the world to pursue greatness and develop a strong character. The core of running a successful program is finding special people who are willing to work at becoming great every day. We recruit student-athletes who we believe can be special on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. We recruit young men of character and of high ambition. MEET THE COACHES Juan P. Murillo, Head Coach Juan P. Murillo was named Head Coach at South Puget Sound Community College in March 2018. Prior to SPSCC, Murillo served as the Director of Men’s Soccer Operations at Seattle University. Murillo was in charge of all administrative duties and supported the Men’s Soccer coaching staff during their 2017 season. A native of Seattle, Wash., Murillo got his coaching start at the high school level in Seattle. In the spring of 2017, serving as the varsity assistant coach for Roosevelt High School, the team won the WIAA 3A State Championship. Murillo has also coached club soccer for Seattle United, where he won two consecutive Washington Youth Soccer State Cups with his U17 teams in 2017 and 2018. Murillo is a proud product of the community college system. He started his college playing career at Edmonds Community College before receiving a student-athlete scholarship to play at California State University, Monterey Bay. Murillo holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from California State University, Monterey Bay and is pursuing a Master of Sport Administration and Leadership from Seattle University.
Jeremy Richtmyre, Assistant Coach Jeremy Richtmyre is an alumni of both SPSCC and the Men’s Soccer Team, playing in 2010 and 2012. After graduating, Richtmyre attended Western Washington University in Bellingham where he received his Bachelor’s in Political Science & Social Studies and then completed a Master’s in Environmental Studies at The Evergreen State College. While in Bellingham, Richtmyer played with Bellingham United FC. Originally from Vancouver, Richtmyre joined the U.S. Army Reserves after graduating high school in 2010 and is still actively serving at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Richtmyre has coached boys soccer at the middle and high school level (in both Bellingham and Olympia) for six seasons and has worked as the assistant coach at Capital High School. He is a USSF certified soccer referee with over six years of experience.

Books $840 Each apartment has a shared living Shared Apartment $7,460 area, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, Personal Expenses $2,070 and bathrooms. They also have a TOTAL $14,946 stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. Each apartment complex has a swimming pool, workout gym, and community center. Students must be 18 to live in an apartment. Apartment Nonrefundable Deposit: $500 Apartment Application Fee: $100

BUTLER Class of 2019, Associate in Arts (DTA) My experience as an SPSCC student-athlete has been one I will never forget. The support I had first from Coach Murillo to bring me in from out of state and give me the opportunity to better myself after making mistakes in the past academically, and then when school started I had the support from all of my fellow student athletes, as well as Vernell and Ashley in the athletic department, and from all my professors. Everyone played a role in my academic success which became a very important piece in my success at South Puget Sound. I loved playing for the team and being part of the athletics community because I was able to play the sport I love while also representing my college. I was able to be a part of valuable opportunities, meeting and volunteering with people involved inside and outside of the college. Every opportunity I had was all thanks to Coach Juan, Vernell, Ashley and the entire staff at South Puget Sound Community College. I am very thankful for the opportunity to better my life and graduate with my associate’s degree. I will always remember this experience.
