ARTS & CRAFTS In this course we will build upon the basic skills needed to create beautiful pieces of acrylic art. Our first session will include a course overview, supply list (needs and wants) and an introduction to blending exercise. We will be experimenting with different types of acrylic application, such as layering, glazing and adding acrylic mediums. We will be learning techniques in juxtaposition, landscape, blending with purpose, and experimental landscape creation. Adventures in Watercolor

Let’s paint! In this course we will journey through watercolor and learn how to paint beautiful compositions while working with water as the medium. We will create beautiful watercolor cards and paintings using wet into wet, wet into dry and basic wash techniques! Paper and paint are provided for the first 2 weeks. Beginning Watercolor Painting

Covers basic components of painting with watercolors. Attendance at the first class is very important. Students are asked to NOT bring any painting supplies to the first class as the instructor will present information about the materials needed and how to stretch paper onto the provided board. The instructor will provide a board and enough student grade paper and paint to start the class as well as a beginning brush and a list of support items that the student can easily gather to start the second class. Instruction will start by covering the very basics then move toward more advanced steps as students learn to use the medium. The goal of this class is to provide enough training and practice so that by the end of the class the student will have the opportunity to produce a painting worthy of being matted, framed and hung. Soft Pastel Techniques-Wide Open Landscapes

Art of Weaving the Drawn Line

This is a DRAWING course steeped in knotwork construction, intuitive meditation and creativity. Celtic knotwork is rich in historical and symbolic meaning. The interwoven pieces of drawn knotwork create a meditative state as we journey through, under and over. This course will provide insight into the construction of knotwork with a foundation in sacred geometry and meditative art. Students will learn how to construct basic to complex interwoven knots by learning the concepts of creation such as open/closed spaces, mirroring the image, repeated patterns and color choice/ medium. Through this course we will look at alternative ways to create character, place and emotion through mixed media illustration methods. Using paper art & engineering, painting techniques and compositional set design we will build our prose into living works of art that can then be translated into a book. We will discuss avenues of self-publishing along with how to properly document your final production. Students will need to provide paper ephemera, glue and an active imagination! Book Making

Want to document your journey? Are you looking for a nice gift that everyone could use? Why not make a unique journal/notebook! In this class, students will create a cover using watercolor inks to match complimentary paper which will then be combined to construct a journal. Students will be instructor led through the process which includes folding, gluing and finally sewing the folios together to create a stunning one of a kind gift for self or other. Supplies included are blank paper for writing, book board, thread, needle, paper snippets and glue. Country Swing Dance

You will be dancing your stress away, feel lighter and smiling more! Much more fun than “exercise”. Born out of the jitterbug and swing era of music and dance, now, with even more variations of carefully executed spins, twists, and turns, the Country Swing is a beautiful and enjoyable partner dance (not a line dance). In this beginner’s level session, you learn the original pony step, Tucson-style, as danced in Tucson, Arizona and Austin, Texas, where the dance originated.
