SCRIPT SUPERVISING

Script Supervisors are the unique unicorns of the film set. No other position walks onto their very first film set as a department head. There is no apprenticeship, no hierarchy and no advancement in the Script Supervising department: we arrive at the top. We are a department of one. The Script Supervisor is a key crew position that supports the Director on set and works closely with all the other departments to check continuity and generate production paperwork. The Script Supervisor is the sole advocate reprepresenting the post production department during filming. Script Supervising is a position that few people understand, and fewer feel called to perform, often due to the misconceptions of our niche position.

intRoDuction to scRiPt suPeRvising

This course will provide you with an overview of the role of the Script Supervisor in preproduction and during filming. By the time you complete this course, you will be able to better manage expectations on how a Script Supervisor can benefit any project. You should have a general understanding of film terminology before this class. If you continue on, this course is a prerequisite to the Professional Script Supervising Series.
