ANNUAL CARNIVAL PAYS HOMAGE TO WHEATLEY

The annual Skate Wheatley Skating Carnival took place on Saturday, April 5 with an afternoon show and an evening show. Both shows were packed with spectators, with a record-setting attendance of 628 people at the afternoon show. This year’s theme was Small Town, Big Heart: A Tribute to Wheatley. The Wheatley Area Arena was decorated nostalgically with popular Wheatley businesses and landmarks (past and present) as part of the giant set design. In the top photo, with a nod to Talbot Trail Golf Club, are the Junior skaters for their number titled Straight Down The Middle. In front are Tahiri Geauvreau and Ava Clifford. Kneeling, from left, are Emersyn Jones, Marlow Stasko, Maya Robinson, Jenelle Ouellette, Calleigh Bilokraly, Lauren Whaling and Brooklyn Wright. Standing in the back row are Karlin Mellow, Daniella Torreon, Isabella Belanger and Arley Dawson. In the bottom photo, with a tribute to the area schools, the Canskate group number was ABC. From left are Ellie Beresh, Brielle Creve, Sofia Taouil, Isabelle Boileau, Elaine Charbonneau, Blakelee Hyatt and Nova Clark. Additional photos are on page 2. Photos courtesy of Kim Riley
