The Board The Board of Directors wishes everyone a Happy New Year, plays better golf and has your dream handicap comes true. As a Board of Director, I have the opportunity to attend our employees annual Christmas party. What a great group of employees we have at South Hills. With the leadership of Mr. John Kulow, General Manager, our staff is here to bring us the highest club experience to enjoy. Please recognize our staff and simply say thanks when you come in next time. Starting 2024, South Hills Country Club steps into its 72 years. With the support of our great memberships and staff, the Club presents itself as a premier private club in the San Gabriel Valley. Continued improvements and enhancement of the Club has always been a primary objective of the leadership at the Club.
The remodeling of the pool area and the completion of the Pavilion brings us the luxury enjoying California outdoor living experience. It also gives the Club additional venues for both Club activities and outside functions. There are two very popular events coming soon, Cigar Night and Valentines Party. Please make your reservation before they are sold out.

General Manager HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Let’s put another great year in the books! It has been the experience of a lifetime being a part of the pool and pavilion creation and renovation process this past year.From the planning process through the construction process and watching the dream become a reality was remarkable.The best part has been being able to serve the membership in these two newly created dining and recreation venues. Of course, the pool was always there but to see its rebirth with all the bells, whistles, and modern accoutrements was amazing.The Pavilion was another experience.This area was formerly the area that the rose garden was in and, for the most part, seldom enjoyed by the membership.The finished product in the outdoor pavilion was a case where reality has exceeded the dream. When the pavilion project was completed in early September, the Club immediately began enjoying the newly constructed venue with The Swing for the Cure, Tres Dias, Derby Day, and The Halloween Extravaganza. We didn’t stop there with these events as a la carte Member dining has been taking place there on demand since October 1.
We look forward to serving the South Hills membership again in 2024. The service team at South Hills has 2 service mantras. The first of which is “TO BUILD MEMBER TRUST IN EVERYTHING WE DO” and the second of which is, “THE ANSWER IS YES, NOW WHAT’S THE QUESTION?” Thank you for giving us the opportunity to execute our two directives. We love making the membership happy and are grateful for every opportunity to do so.

Golf Professional As we wind down yet another year, December had a few fun events. The ladies had there Christmas invitational and they Member/Member Christmas tournament while the men had their annual Par 3 event. We are also rounding out the year with a junior golf camp as part of our every growing junior golf program. As we look forward to a new year, 2024 promises to bring a lot of fun golf tournaments, events, and junior golf. January brings us Men’s Stag Day on January 19th and the Ladies will have their eclectic. January also kicks off our Men’s team play with teams competing on both Thursdays and Saturdays. We look forward to both teams being competitive this year and hopefully making the playoffs. We look forward to 2024 in our Junior golf program as we will continue to have camps and will also be introducing PGA Junior League this year. I would like to thank all the members here at South Hills Country Club for another great year! My staff and I enjoy serving you in the golf operations. Executive Chef As I reflect upon my first year at South Hills, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the meaningful relationships that have blossomed. Approaching my anniversary, I take pride in calling South Hills my home, and I am eagerly anticipating the promising year ahead! Amenities HAPPY NEW YEAR! We ended the year with a fabulous New Years Eve party that created a big buzz! We hosted over 150 members and their families with an evening that was sure to start the year off right! We continue to be committed to exceeding your expectations this year with your all your membership has to offer. We are kicking off the year with a highly requested Paint N Sip! -gather your friends for a fun night to wine down and paint the evening away. To continue the festivities we are hosting the first ever Cigar Night at the NEW Pavilion. See you on January 26 for an evening of delicious dining & more! 2023 came and went in a flash! The food and beverage team would like to thank our members for making 2023 such a memorable year at the club. There were so many exciting events that took place over the past year! We hope that we helped create some lasting memories with your families, loved ones, coworkers and guests!
It was delightful to be able to share in the memories and be a part of so many families coming together to celebrate together. South Hills CC is a Family Club, and is illustrated so wonderfully every year, all December long. We are looking forward to being of service in the coming year. As we look forward to an eventful 2024 at the club, there is no need to “wine” that 2023 is over. Our Wine- To – Go service has some amazing wine selections at a remarkable value. For our members, we offer wine to go pricing which excludes the house charge. Our food and beverage team would like to welcome you all to our wine dinners this upcoming year! Be on the lookout for our “Member Favorite” Silver Oak winery dinner coming early in the New Year where there will also be member exclusive pricing on wine to go exclusively from the winery! There have also been some updates to our wine list including several exciting new wines by the glass as well as some exceptional bottles carefully selected with the input of our members. Let’s make 2024 an even more exciting and memorable year here at South Hills! Cheers! We also want to remind everyone that the Birthday Buffet for December and January will be January 18th. Cigar Night will be January 26th at the Pavilion. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events!

From the Course Another year has come and gone, and I am grateful to all the members who support our work on the golf course. Without the support and assistance of the membership, the maintenance of the golf course would be much more difficult. I am also very grateful to the hard-working maintenance staff who put in the hours throughout the year. The pride that they show in their work is reflected in the conditions that we strive to provide for the membership. We enjoyed another successful year on the golf course with many accomplishments that are seen and unseen by the golfers. Although I am proud of the things we accomplished, I recognize that there is always room for improvement. We learn new lessons each year and put those lessons into practice in the years to come. Thank you and Happy New Year from the golf course maintenance team.
Congratulations to Jose Ruiz on 55 years of service at South Hills Country Club . Jose is retiring after 55 years in the golf course maintenance department. Best of luck!
