Sounds of the season The Elkhorn Area High School band, under the direction of Sarah Wuttke and the EAHS choir (below,) led by director Matthew Remus, perform concerts in mid December in the James A. Wehner Auditorium to celebrate the holiday season. ON THE COVER: The Walworth County Historical Society hosts an annual Christmas Tree Walk at Heritage Hall in Elkhorn. Warm smiles At last year’s Elkhorn Christmas Parade, local scouts give away hot chocolate and cookies as a way to thank the community for its support throughout the year. The scouts teamed up with their chartering organization, the Elkhorn Lions Club, which was holding a drive for the Elkhorn Food Pantry. Celebrating music history Local artist T. James Carlson painted this original watercolor for Elkhorn’s 2019 holiday card. Elkhorn is known as Christmas Card Town and the design honors 100 years of music. “The sound of music by the Elkhorn Band (shows) a display of old to new uniforms, same tradition. A century of music excellence from 1919-2019,” the description states.

It’s a holiday tradition Early each December the Friends of Lakeland School hosts Waffles with Santa at the school in Elkhorn, featuring breakfast, the opportunity to take a photo with Santa, hear the school choir sing and do some shopping thanks to a craft fair. The waffles are such a hot ticket item that they now allow guests to buy additional ones to take home.
