Whitewater High School had its share of talented senior athletes this season, with many setting records, winning titles or helping their teams set new standards. above: While coming up just shy of qualifying for the WIAA Division 2 state tournament, wrestler Connor Friend enjoyed a strong senior season, finishing second in the Rock Valley Conference at 132 pounds against a defending state champion. right: Heading into the postseason for track and field, Madelynn Buehler was poised to make a run to the WIAA Division 2 state tournament in the sprinting events as well as part of a relay or two.
Whitewater High School’s Whitewater Players continues to push its effort on state, this year with the musical “Beauty and the Beast.” The musical garnered 15 Jerry Award nominations – which honor the top musical productions in the state – including a win for Anderson Waelchli (who played Lumiere). The school also won an award for outstanding hair, makeup and costume design, with Alexsandra Cansino-Pena, Alejandra DiazGallegos, Maddsion LaHaie, Karen McCulloch, Claire Tourdot, Remington Van Daele and Bobbi Wedl being honored. Another senior, Mel Prince, earned the school’s “Spirit Award” for the Jerrys.

Whitewater Graduation
The Whitewater High School Class of 2023 commencement will be Sunday, June 4, 2 p.m. Ceremonies will be held either in the high school gym or on the football field, weather dependent.
