PROVIDING RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR FUN, HEALTH AND EDUCATION We are excited to announce a new edition to the Sports Park, permanent restrooms. Two unisex restrooms have will be installed near the playground. The Winnebago Sports Park is located at 301 N. Church St., behind the Winnebago High School football field. The park is open to the public from dawn to dusk except on special event nights. Parking is available in the designated paved area. Please do not park in the grass areas. The Paths in the Sports Park are for walking and biking only. Please do not drive on the path. Snowmobiles are not allowed on the path. There is a trail that runs through the park so please stay on the trail. The Sports Park is a smoke free, alcohol free and weapons free park. No skates, skateboarding, rollerblades, bikes or cleats are allowed on the Basketball and Tennis Courts. Also please use respectful language while in the park. There are
lights on the Tennis and Basketball courts on a timer and available until 10 p.m. The Winnebago Park District, created in 1999, was established to provide recreational opportunities for fun, health and education for the members of the Winnebago community. Under the leadership of our Park Director Michelle Cunningham, the Winnebago Park District will continue to strive to give the community a beautiful park in its recreational endeavors. Working with a yearly budget of $115,000 the Winnebago Park District continues to meet and exceed the expectations of the community with its program offerings for any age. Encompassed in this budget is our full time Park Director, Michelle Cunningham and Kelly Reinke the part time Program Coordinator. Overseeing Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Reinke is a five-person elected board. Each member of the Park District Board
of Commissioners brings their own expertise to the Winnebago Park District, while providing guidance for the overall success of the district. Winnebago Park District Board The Winnebago Park District Board consists of five non paid members. Meetings are held the second Monday of the month in the WPD office, 301 N. Church St., Winnebago. Winnebago Park District Policies & Program Information

Registration Policies: All programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment number and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The Park District has the right to cancel, postpone and combine classes or programs. Along with the right to cancel classes and make changes in the schedule and fees. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Online Registration: Registration is available online at www. winnebagoparkdistrict.org. Register and pay for programs with just a couple clicks. Mail in Registration: Winnebago Park District at P.O. Box 516, Winnebago Il. 61088. WPD is not responsible for mail-in registrations that are not received. Drop In Registration: 301 N. Church St., Winnebago. We are behind the WHS football field before the Transportation Building. There are forms located outside the office along with a locked drop box where you can put forms and payments. Registration Deadline: After the registration deadline the Park District will determine if the program or class will be held or cancelled. Once this decision is made registrations will be taken until the class or program is full or begins. Registrations received after the deadline will be charged an additional $5, will be placed on a waiting list and assigned to teams as space permits. Fees Policy: Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. Families with more than two children registering for the same program will receive a multi-participant discount. Pay for two children and the third or more child’s fee is 50% of the registration fee or pay no more than $300. No registrations will be accepted without the proper payment. Definition of Residency: Winnebago Park District residents are described as residing within the Winnebago Park District boundaries. A Park District Resident pays taxes to the Park District. If the participant attends Winnebago schools that does not automatically make them a WPD District Resident. Proof of residency may be required. Refunds: A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. Refunds requested after the start of a program will not be
issued. Online Registration Refunds will be charged a $5 service fee if canceled prior to the start of the season. Waiver Policy: All participants in our programs, leagues, classes and trips will be required to sign a participation waiver. Parents or guardians must sign for minor children. Online Registration Policy: By registering online you agree to the Release, Waiver, and Indemnification information.

Art Sadtler Basketball
Winnebago Park District participates in the Art Sadlter Basketball League. Practices will be held weekdays at McNair School with games on Saturdays in Rockford and surrounding areas. Season will run January – mid March. Registration Deadline: December 4, 2023
Running Club- Spring 3-5th grade Co-Ed Deadline: Spring 2024 TBD Purpose: Introduce students to the sport of running, fitness and nutrition. Along with promoting a healthy and positive lifestyle. Participants will meet at the WPD office and receive instructions on the day’s activities. Instructors will be working with the students on nutrition, running, biking, stretching and making exercise fun! During the 4 weeks we will be making at least 2 Healthy Snacks for participants to enjoy and learn to make at home.2 days a week 3 – 4:00 p.m. starting in April 2024. Registration Deadline: TBD Registration Fee: $45 WPD Residents; $55 Non-Resident
Spring Soccer Ages: 4-10 years Deadline: March 18, 2024 Co-Ed Spring Soccer will begin when the weather permits April. The league is open to 4-year-old thru 10 yrs old or fourth grade. Practice & Games will be held on weekdays only in the Winnebago Sports Park. Players will have more touches on the ball with smaller teams.

Friends of the Park Friends of Winnebago Park District is a non-profit group who raises funds for the Winnebago Park District. The Friends work closely with the Winnebago Park District and the community to make improvements to Winnebago Park District programs and Sports Park. Please join us and in our current mission of funding restroom construction in the Sports Park to serve our outdoor athletics and community.

Starting the week of June 3, 2023 the Winnebago Park District now offers three days of fun and exciting activities from 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fun is being staffed by WHS students and supervised by WPD. The goal of Summer Fun is to provide campers the opportunity to build friendship, social skills and have FUN through a variety of our engaging and exhilarating themed weeks. Whether your camper is interested in arts, science or sports, our themes are designed to be fun and interactive for all.
Age Requirement: All campers must be going into 1st - 6th grades. Exceptions will be made for kindergartners if there’s an older sibling attending with them. Attire: Campers will need a labeled back pack with change of clothes, sunscreen and shoes to run and play in daily. Staff will let you know in advance when your camper is entering a themed week that may require him/ her to pack in addition to this. Meals: Campers must bring a packed lunch and water bottle. WPD will provide two snacks to all campers. Location: All campers will be dropped off and picked up at the WPD
office. Majority of camp days will be held at the Winnebago Sports Park with special outings and field trips. Cost: A $25 registration fee must be paid per family by April 1 to guarantee a spot. Payment for the first week that your child/children attend must be paid in full two weeks prior, so staff has an idea of how many kids are attending each week. Planning for supplies and snacks will depend on the number of participants in attendance each week. One or two days a week $30/day per child. Second child from the same family is $25/day, child 3 days a week $25/day (must sign up and pay for all three days.

The Winnebago Park District took on two big projects this year and is excited to share them with the community. The WPD tennis courts were resurfaced and repurposed. WPD kept one tennis court and added a pickleball court and a basketball hoop for half-court play. The basketball hoop was donated and put to good use inside the fenced in area. Monday nights there is a group that gets together and plays pickleball along with free tennis lessons on Thursdays at 6 p.m. April – September. Currently two one stall Bathrooms are being built in the Winnebago Park District Sports Park near the Dylan Mastroianni Playground. WPD is excited for this new edition. Flag Football Kinder/1st grade Flag Football 2nd-4th grade Flag Football Deadline: July 5 Flag is a great way to learn the game of Football. This will be an instructional program to teach the basics of football in clinic format. Players will work on drills and games that involve skills such as throwing, receiving, kicking and deflagging. Games and practices will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays at Winnebago Sports ParkSeason will start with 2 weeks of practice starting the week of July 17. Games to follow and show off their skills. Cheer & Dance Squad 4th-8th grade Cheer & Dance Deadline: June 30 Cheer & Dance Squad will be offered in the Sports Park for our Junior Tackle Teams. This squad is open to 4-8th graders interested in learning to perform dance and cheer routines to promote spirit and enthusiasm. Practices will begin in June and run through Jr. Tackle Football season. Participants will be in the Winnebago 4th of July parade and perform at all home games and 1 away game. All games are on Saturdays.

This is a race for everyone whether you are an experienced runner, this is your first race or if you are just looking for a fun event to do with your family! The Winnebago Jr Tackle Football Program fields 4 teams grades 4-8th. The purpose of this program is to instill responsibility, sportsmanship and teamwork in a competitive environment to prepare our youth to compete and play at the Winnebago High School Level. Coaches will not only teach the game of football but emphasize life lessons and community involvement. Practice: Practice will start July 22. Practices will be held Monday-Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. prior to the first game and will be held MondayThursday from 5-7 p.m. once game play has started.
