Lady Wolves defeat Warren-Stockton in early softball matchup It has been a busy start to the 2025 softball season for the Pearl City Wolves. After playing a double header in Jacksonville on Saturday, the Wolves had completed eight games over a nine-day stretch. Their season opener was played on March 21, and they held an overall record of 4-4 by March 29. All four of Pearl City’s victories came in the first five games of their season. The home opener featured

an electric 16-1 victory over the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders. The next day, they suffered a 2-9 loss to the Oregon Hawks. After that, Pearl City rattled off three consecutive victories, including a 14-7 win over the Warren-Stockton Warhawks on March 24. Things didn’t get off to a good start for the Wolves. Despite Pearl City being the home team, it was Warren-Stockton who appeared comfortable to start. Mackenzie Lotz got the start from

the pitcher’s circle for the Wolves, and she took an inning to get settled in. After registering two quick outs, Mackenzie wound up hitting two batters and walking three more. After the top of the first, Pearl City was already trailing 0-3. Mackenzie had a much better second inning. It was a one, two, three inning as Lotz drew three consecutive groundouts. The Pearl City defense was solid behind her, and it was just what they needed to build some mo-

mentum. In the bottom of the second, Pearl City’s bats came to life. Jorja Johnson got the rally started with a single. Kendra Kuhlemeier followed that up with a double to right center field, driving in Johnson for Pearl City’s first run. Natalie Lotz then singled to put runners on the corners. Anna Dampman followed that up with a line drive through the middle,

bringing the Wolves within one. Pearl City eventually took their first lead of the day when Isabella Smith hit yet another single through the middle. Dampman and Natalie scored, putting the Wolves up 4-3. The Wolves added to their lead in the bottom of the third. After M Perry’s leadoff double, she eventually scored on a wild pitch. Her aggressive

baserunning put the Wolves up 5-3 after three innings of play. Warren-Stockton wasn’t ready to go away so easily. The Warhawks responded by putting up solo runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings, tying the game 5-5. All that seemed to do was light a spark for the Wolves, however. After
