Ready for the holidays Whitewater’s downtown area was all decorated for its Dec. 2 Christmas parade, and had the trademark Christmas tree lit as well. However, businesses got in on the fun as well. Favorite Christmas tradition In Christmas time, my family and I do different stuff every year. We don’t specifically have a family tradition but we do different stuff every year like watch a movie on Christmas and open the presents at night or sometimes in the morning. We also do stuff like invite family friends or invite family members. We also sometimes go over family friend houses or go to a family member’s house. On Christmas Eve we sometimes open one present under the Christmas tree and sometimes not. The day before Christmas Eve or on Christmas Eve my family and I go shopping for food to make for dinner and we buy extra too to mak for Christmas dinner before we like open presents from under the Christmas tree. – Jesus O. One holiday tradition my family does for Christmas is my older sister and my three nieces come over and we watch movies, and play game and make fun crafts. Every year my sister and I come up with new things we can all make together like for example slime, and home made cookies, and tree ordaments, and ginger bread houses. Christmas is my favorite holiday because all my family is all together spreading joy and some good laughs, and one gift that I would give on this special holiday is happiness, because Christmas is a one time a year where everyone that you love and care for are all together in one place and happy. – Ray’shaunda H. My favorite holiday tradition is a game called “Whoopie.” Whoopie is a game that my family and I play on New Year’s Eve! You have a partner that roles the dice and you have to flip that number of the card over, and if you have that card flipped over already, than your partner would flip his card over if they didn’t have theirs over already. When you can’t flip anymore over than you and your partner would say, “Whoopiee”!!!!!! Then, if you win and/ or have the least amount or points, you
would leave and go to another table and do it all over again against a different group of people and would switch and have a different partner. – Emma H.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is going up north to my little house up there. We usually go, one time in the summer, and one time durring deer hunting season. I prefer to go in the summer because we can ride our 4-wheeler more. We can’t really ride it durring deer hunting season because we will drive all of the deer away from where we want them to be. Every time we go up to Tommohawk (up-North House) we alwase spend time with family that lives there, we will either go out to eat with them or we go eat over at their house. We always ask if we can get wifi for the house but every time their answer is no because we all have lives out of our phones and we need to get used to that. Another thing we do is do chores but we usually do chores in summer so we don’t have to stand out in the cold. The most popular chore we do in the summer is split wood, for our house. – Emily B. My favorite holiday is christmas because during christmas time I go to Mexico. What my family likes to do is give to the poor in Mexico so they can have something like a christmas present. I love to spend time with my family that’s from Mexico. When christmas time comes what my family does is just have a family fun dinner. When we have that dinner is so fun because my whole family is all there by my side. We like to help out in Mexico but I mostly love to help out with abandied dogs. I can’t wait until christmas is here because hopefully the trip there will be a fun and being there is amazing. I get to see new things and try new
On Christmas eve my mom go’s and buy’s donuts and I get crawlers and then on christmas day we have donuts with chocolate mil it is really good. I usually eat about 3 to 4 donuts that’s how good they are. – Wyatt N. Every year opening presents is a delight. We do this every Christmas morning. My sister and I enter the living room early in the morning to get a quick glance at the boxes and then go shake our parents awake. Whenever my family goes on trips, we usually get an ornament for the tree as a souvenier. My family enjoys collecting ornaments and later using our collection to decorate the tree. – Brennan My favorite holiday tradition is going to my grandparents’ house either before or after Christmas Day. We (my family) always go there to exchange gifts and have a nice male with the whole family. We eat a lot of sweets there along with real food so we aren’t being completely unhealthy. There are lots of pies made, enough main courses to feed 50, and enough drinks to fill a bathtub up. We sit and talk a lot but since it’s an hour drive we enjoy it. My family is usually the last group to leave there, then e get fast to sleep due to the busy day. – Marc Jones My favorite holiday tradition is getting Behm New pajamas every year on Christmas Eve. My sisters and I pick out some pajamas for each other, and we wear them to bed. My cousins also do this tradition. We also open one gift on Christmas Eve and wait for Christmas Day to open the rest of them. One gift that can’t be bought
One gift I can give that can’t be bought is love. I love to always give every one in my family hugs and kisses full of love on Chrismas. – Emily C. One gift you couldn’t give or buy is happiness because if a person is always moody you can’t buy happiness. – Carolina V.
Some gifts that I would not give that can not be bought are the joy of playing basketball and fishing. I may also gift you with some extra sleep. If you say that it is to cold to play basketball, I will simply redirect you to an indoor basketball court, and if you say that it is too cold to fish I will send you to a power plant lake with a heat discharge. – Jon A.
Some gifts I would give someone that can’t be bought are some joy in peoples live’s. I would choose this because a lot of people strugle on being happy. Another gift I would give is to get rid of all mental disorders because many people suffer from disorders. I would also get rid of cancer because so many people suffer and die from it. – Leeann D. Some things that can’t be bought is Love, friendship, respect, Honesty, and loyalty. All of these things you have to earn. You can’t just buy someone to love you. It won’t be real. When someone asks you about gifts you can give that can’t be bought you might think of something expencive like a really big lego set or a nice car. What it really means is a gift of love, kindness, or tradition. Something that isn’t thought lessly bought off Amazon, but something that last a lifetime (not an appliance with a lifetime garunty). I would give someone kindness to not just someone I know but to anyone, either deserving or not. Kindness can lift someones spirit or give them hop in what seems like a world of darkness. A gift that I would give to others would be hope, seeing what our world has become. I think that’s one of the many things we all need right now. For example, what happened at the High School, the person or people who sent that message need hope to know that hurting and scaring others isn’t going to solve anything. I believe that I’m not the only one who wants to give the gift of hope. I know that others want to give hope, love, peace and positivity to our town and world, but don’t know now. I don’t know how to give hope, I’m only 13. How can I change the town at least at my age?
