10:57 p.m. – officer observed a vehicle in a parking lot after hours on South Devendorf Street. Subject was playing Pokemon Go; advised of park hours. July 24 12:56 p.m. – complaint called to report trucks over the weight for that road traveling on North Ridgeway Street. 2:45 p.m. – metal scraps/ pieces in the roadway on Highway 12. Debris was already moved off of roadway. 2:50 p.m. – officer observed vehicle drive through intersection after light had turned red on East Court Street. Driver stated was already past the stop line needed to clear the intersection. Officer observed vehicle was well behind the curb and not in the middle of the intersection. Cited for failure to obey signal and issued written warning for no proof of insurance. 3:33 p.m. – stopped vehicle for driving through road closed construction area on West Court Street. Driver issued written warning. 8:54 p.m. – ongoing issue with fireworks in the area on North Susan Court. Officers drove in the area and did not hear any. July 25 12:32 a.m. – officers observed subject going through passenger side of vehicle in front of a residence on West Court Street. Subject stated it was his vehicle and he was on his way to a friend’s house. 1:27 a.m. – officers found open door at rear of business on West Market Street. Searched and found no persons or vandalism. Placed hangtag on entry door. 1:33 a.m. – alarm company called to report alarm on East Geneva Street. Officer found open door checking complex. Cleared the building and all appeared okay. Door could be secured. 1:46 a.m. – caller thought
someone trying to get in on East First Avenue. Officer arrived from two different locations and did not observe anyone walking. Checked the area on foot and did not locate anyone or anything out of place. 5:16 a.m. – stuck in the car wash unable to open door to tell someone on West Hidden Trail. Officer called on arrival, staff already assisting and all was okay. 8:51 a.m. – found a crack pipe in front of house on West Randall Place. Homeowner found broken pipe inside of a cloth skullcap near their driveway. 3:22 p.m. – lost car keys put on trunk and when drove they fell off on South Creek Drive. Officer spoke to subject of lost property. 3:37 p.m. – complainant reported damage to car from a grocery cart on West Market Street. Reported to the service desk and they indicated the manager would be contacting them. Was informed it is a civil issue but there would be record that he called and reported it to the police. July 26 12:38 a.m. – observed vehicle without taillights on North Church Street. Vehicle was a rental and driver did not know how to operate lights. Officers educated and lights were functioning. Driver found to have suspended license, citation issued. 1:45 a.m. – officer observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road on South Lincoln Street. Driver stated a bird, which looked like an owl had hit the vehicle. Observed damage to the front glass. 1:27 p.m. – piece of patio furniture in the road on Highway 12. Removed and cleared. 1:48 p.m. – responded to a vehicle crash, vehicle rear-ended stopped vehicle. 5:03 p.m. – took report of vehicles with windows broken and items taken from car
on County Trunk H. Town of Geneva and Sheriff’s Department took similar report. 10:07 p.m. – commercial silent alarm on East Commerce Court. Officers respond manager entered the wrong code and will be contacting the alarm company.
July 27 7:12 a.m. – officer observed a small bike lying on the side on the road on North Wisconsin Street. The bike was moved to the terrace. 8:39 a.m. – garbage truck driver backing out of the parking lot and dumpster arm caught and pulled down wires on East Court Street. An old pole broke off at the base and landed gently onto the garage roof but did not appear to be structural damage. Elkhorn Power and Light responded to make the scene safe and remove wires in the road and the pole from the roof. 12:50 p.m. – Kwik Trip employee turned over a wallet on West Hidden Trail. The wallet was later turned over. 12:56 p.m. – ran out of gas on West Walworth Street. Assisted motorist obtain gasoline from home. 2:50 p.m. – dispatched to meet with complainant regarding someone breaking into garage on East Hartwell Street. The door on garage had been kicked in the motion light sensor damaged. See case record for additional information. 3:59 p.m. – officer stopped vehicle dragging branch from rear bumper on North Wisconsin Street. Branch was removed and driver released. 8:35 p.m. – open door on shed on West Oconnor Drive. All appeared okay. Door closed and building locked. 9:18 p.m. – officer noticed door slightly open on vehicle parked on street closed door completely on South Jackson Street. Contact vehicle owner and made him aware.

Fleeing • Joseph D. Shaffer, 34, of Sharon; attempting to flee or elude an officer. Shaffer fled from police for 10.1 miles at 90 mph after an officer initiated a traffic stop at Birchwood Street and Autumn Drive in Delavan on July 21, according to the complaint. The officer terminated the pursuit at Highway K and Stateline Road, but Shaffer was identified through an investigation of stolen trailers in Boone County, Ill., according to the complaint.
