Court blotter The following people were charged with these Class H and I and unclassified felony offenses in Walworth County Circuit Court between Nov. 10 and 25: Class H Class H, punishable by up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines: Drunken driving • Christopher R. Kirch, 36, of Burlington; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, both fourth offense; and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, first offense. Kirch was apprehended for drunken driving after he was involved in an accident at Daisy Drive near Rosewood Road in the Village of Bloomfield at about 3:15 p.m. Oct. 12, according to the criminal complaint. He had beer and marijuana in the vehicle and had a .173 blood-alcohol concentration, according to the complaint. Bail jumping • Bret K. Beaster, 34, of Delavan; felony bail jumping. While under bond conditions, which included drinking no alcohol, on Racine County charges of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and trespassing, Beaster allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend Nov. 20 after drinking all night.

• Steven R. Huerta, 38, of Elkhorn; felony bail jumping and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. According to the criminal complaint, Huerta snatched a 40-year-old woman with whom he used to live from a front porch in Elkhorn on Oct. 1 while under bond conditions that prohibited him from having contact with the woman or her residence. He was under bond conditions on a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation and misdemeanor charges of three counts of disorderly conduct, resisting or obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. • Antoine M. Brown, 33, of Milwaukee; felony bail jumping. According to the criminal complaint, Brown failed to appear in court as required Oct. 23 on charges of battery and disorderly conduct. • Aramis M. Norwood, 26, of Grayslake, Ill.; felony bail jumping. Norwood failed to appear in court Oct. 8 as required on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the criminal complaint. • Anthony M. Wade, 23, of Beloit; felony bail jumping, intentionally contributing to delinquency, manufacturing or delivering marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wade allegedly gave a 13-year-old boy marijuana and told him to sell it, and the boy approached other ju-
veniles at Harris Park in Elkhorn on Nov. 9 asking them to buy the marijuana. Wade was under bond conditions on Portage County charges of battery, disorderly conduct, intimidating a victim and criminal damage to property. • Daniel R. Schmid, 40, of Bristol; felony bail jumping. Schmid allegedly failed to appear in court as required Nov. 13 on charges of theft.

While being held in the Walworth County Jail on a felony drunken driving charge, Salisbury allegedly struck a corrections officer in the face Nov. 9. • Timothy J. West, 51, of Elkhorn; three counts of bat-tery by prisoners and disor-derly conduct. West allegedly punched three other inmates multiple times in the face and head while they were playing cards at the Walworth Coun-ty Jail on Oct. 21.

Identity theft • Tyrone Davis, 56, of Fort Atkinson; identity theft for financial gain and misdemeanor theft. Davis allegedly withdrew $80, $200 and $100 from a friend’s bank account after the friend gave him her debit card and PIN to go to the store and get wine coolers on Aug. 9.
Drugs • Valerie K. Flowers, 19, of Bristol; delivering marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Flowers was pulled over Nov. 13 in the Town of Geneva after she was seen crossing the centerline and speeding, according to the criminal complaint. More than 40 grams of marijuana, 19 THC vape cartridges and a digital scale were found in the car, the complaint states.
Disorderly conduct • Jacob T. Hespe, 34, of Whitewater; disorderly conduct with domestic abuse assessments and as a domestic abuse repeater. Hespe allegedly hit his wife and threw her 16-year-old daughter on the floor at their Whitewater home Nov. 11.
Man charged with stabbing woman in neck An initial appearance was scheduled to resume Dec. 9 for a Janesville man charged with stabbing a woman in the neck in a car at Walmart in Lake Geneva. Marcos Garcia Jr., 29, was charged Dec. 4 in Walworth County Circuit Court with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless injury, both with the use of a dangerous weapon; and misdemeanor bail jumping; all as a repeater. According to the criminal complaint, a 27-year-old woman was lying on her back
near the entrance to Walmart with a cut to the throat at about 2:55 a.m. Nov. 25. The woman was pale, drifting in and out of consciousness and had a sizable amount of blood on her and at the base of her neck, and several people were gathered around her, according to the complaint. The woman was taken to Aurora Summit Hospital. A Mercury sport utility vehicle in the Walmart parking lot had a substantial amount of blood on the center console, and an open folding knife with blood on it was on the passenger-side floor, ac-
cording to the complaint. The woman told police she was in the SUV with Garcia when he tried to take her phone away and then began stabbing her in the neck, the complaint states. She said blood began to rush from her neck, and she was able to get out of the SUV and run through the parking lot for help, according to the complaint. A nurse reported the woman’s carotid artery had been partially cut and surgery was performed to repair the artery and other damages, according to the complaint. Garcia admitted grabbing
the woman’s phone and stabbing her, and said he was going to kill her and take her car with her dead body in it back to Janesville, the complaint states. Methamphetamine was found in the SUV, and Garcia was found with drug paraphernalia when he was arrested. He was convicted in Rock County of possession of marijuana and burglary and is charged in a Walworth County case in which he pulled a knife out during a confrontation with another man, according to the complaint.

Man allegedly cut girlfriend with knife He’s charged with attempted murder, several other crimes
A Burlington man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly cutting his girlfriend with a knife in a drunken rage after he accused her of hiding his cigarettes. Jesse A. Berryman, 37, was charged last week in Racine County Circuit Court with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, strangulation and suffocation, stalking with use of a dangerous weapon, second-degree sexual assault, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor battery. All of the charges are filed with domestic Jesse abuse enhancers. Berryman A court commissioner set cash bond at $15,000 during Berryman’s initial court appearance. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Dec. 10 in Racine County Circuit Court. The charges, according to the criminal complaint, stem from a series of incidents involving the couple that occurred since June. The latest incident resulting in the most serious charge allegedly occurred Nov. 24 at the couple’s residence on South Pine Street. Police responding to a call of a woman being attacked by her boyfriend with a knife learned the victim fought off Berryman before running to her landlord’s apartment for help. According to the complaint, the victim and Berryman got into an argument on Nov. 23 over text messages Berryman received from another woman. The victim went to sleep in another room to let things “cool off.” The victim was awakened about 1 a.m. by Berryman – who was described as “obliterated drunk” – screaming about cigarettes, the complaint alleges. The victim begged Berryman to leave because she had to attend school in the morning, but he became angrier, according to the complaint. Berryman allegedly told the victim he would get a “bitch knife” and cut her before going to the kitchen and grabbing a knife with a 6-inch serrated blade, the complaint states. Berryman allegedly charged back into the bedroom and said, “Don’t think I won’t stab you. Don’t think I won’t kill you” while he was on top of the victim. The victim described holding back Berryman’s arm while the two struggled and was cut on the back of the arm and index finger, according to the complaint. She then punched Berryman in the face and used her knee to shove him off the bed, the complaint states. Berryman staggered backward, spit out some blood and wiped it on his shirt and the door of the bedroom, according to the complaint. The victim pushed past him and ran to the bathroom to apply toilet paper to the cut on her finger. She said she could hear Berryman laughing while she was in the bathroom before she ran downstairs to the landlord’s apartment to seek help, according to the complaint. While they were waiting for police to arrive, the victim said she saw Berryman leave the residence “as if nothing had ever happened,” the complaint states. Police documented several injuries to the victim, including a 4-inch-long cut on the back of her arm, a deep cut in the pattern of the serrated knife on her index finger and multiple bruises including several on her chest and right breast that the victim said were from Berryman biting her, according to the complaint. Additional charges While being interviewed by an investigator with the Burlington Police Department, the victim recounted an incident several days earlier that also resulted in charges against Berryman. She told police Berryman pinned her down on a bed and choked her after she told Berryman his 12-year-old daughter needed medical attention because she was sick, according to the complaint. The victim told investigators she nearly lost consciousness as a result. The complaint also details an incident from last June when during an argument Berryman got out of the victim’s car and smashed the windshield while she was inside. A Racine County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the incident, but the victim insisted she did not want charges filed at the time, according to the complaint.
