Wisconsin Oven purchases former Plymouth property

Wisconsin Oven Corporation is expanding its reach in East Troy with a recent property purchase from Plymouth Tube. The company, which has been designing, engineering, and manufacturing industrial ovens and other heating equipment for 40 years, will expand operations to the Young Street property through 2019. The former Plymouth facility is located between two other Wisconsin Oven factories and offers over 130,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Wisconsin Oven’s total investment in the East Troy community will exceed $2.5 million after purchase and renovation of the site. “We are very excited to secure this facility,” said Dave Strand, Wisconsin Oven President and CEO. “Over the next year we will be doing some extensive renovation and plan on hiring 80-90 employees

The East Troy Electric Railroad, Wisconsin’s last original electric railroad line, is celebrating its 110th year of operation. The railroad’s 2017 schedule will include more trains and dinner trains, as well as a longer route that includes a stop at Indianhead Park in Mukwonago. Chamber honors year’s best Hometown Sausage named Business of the Year
Hometown Sausage Kitchen has been named Business of the Year by the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce. The Business of the Year Award recognizes business growth, community involvement and innovative efforts in the East Troy area. Company owners John Hudoc, Elena Bisabarros and Thomas Cicero accepted the award at the Chamber’s annual meeting and awards dinner on April 13 at Alpine Valley Resort. About the winner: Hometown Sausage Kitchen –whose blossoming in recent years has continued to attract attention from Wisconsin farmers, the southern Wisconsin restaurant scene and beyond– is run by professionally trained chefs, Hudoc and Cicero, along with Lynn Lein of Yuppie Hill Poultry and John’s wife Elena, who take great pride in their work and the East Troy community. The business specializes in small batch locally sourced meat processing, but also provides custom product design and private labeling, helping entrepreneurs develop their own range of meat products. shop in 2011, Hometown Sausage made a push to modernize the business by developing and evolving its wholesale division. Today, the business is supplying its products to trendy restaurants like Good Kind in Bayview and Braise in Milwaukee. It also expanded into national territory by supplying a stadium in Cleveland and another large East Coast client. Hometown has also continued work to support the East Troy area. They do custom work for farmers like LotFotL and supply events like area farmers markets, the East Troy Chamber’s Memorial Day Weekend Corn & Brat Roast, East Troy High School concession stand and many others. In 2016, Hometown Sausage brought an innovative idea for a community-wide project to life by developing an Italian Sausage pasta sauce with community businesses and students. The fundraising project was a true community effort, using tomatoes from Bower’s Produce that East Troy High School FFA students harvested and spices from Michael Fields Agricultural Institute. Contract Comestibles processed and packaged large batches of the sauce and the jars are now sold as a fundraiser benefiting many school groups. Volunteer of the Year Sarah Manke was recognized as the Chamber’s 2017 Volunteer of the Year. About the winner: Manke leapt into her commitment to the Chamber as a founding member of the First Fridays committee and has played a crucial role in launching the popular first year program. Her passion and dedication to the event series and its branding have contributed significantly to its success. She has dedicated countless hours to the Chamber in the past year, working diligently behind the scenes at events like the East Troy Bluegrass Festival, Santa on the Square and everything in between.

Farmers Market launches exciting 9th season
The East Troy Farmers Market will launch its exciting ninth season on Friday, May 19 at East Troy Village Square Park, 2881 Main St. The market will continue on Fridays through Oct. 6. Hours of operation are 2 to 6 p.m. The market will feature vendors selling homegrown and local produce, specialty items, meats, honey, cheese, flowers, crafts and more. The largest competitive cycling event in the United States, the Tour of America’s Dairyland, will make a stop in East Troy as part of its 11-day series on Friday, June 16. The East Troy Cycling Classic begins at 10:15 a.m. with nearly 10 hours of highenergy professional cycling around East Troy Village Square Park and nearby streets. The race will feature a handycling division beginning at 5:10 p.m. East Troy’s 3rd annual Slow Ride Bike Race will be at 5:40 p.m. The popular Tour de Square Kids Races will begin at 6 p.m. A beer tent will feature music by Mt. Olive from 7:45 to 10:45 p.m. Hosted by the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, along with The Dennis and Janice Klumb Family Foundation, the event will feature the East Troy Farmers Market, an ESPN radio broadcast and local vendors offering a variety of food items and beer, soda and water.
