Golf Course annexes back into Village
More than 15 years ago, what officials are calling a “personal feud” between the Village of Bensenville and the Bensenville Park District, which caused the Park District to disconnect the White Pines Golf Club from the Village. First opening its doors in 1928, the White Pines Golf Club includes 36 holes on 240 acres, the 37Bar & Grill and banquet facilities. After a positive relationship was reestablished between the Village and the Park District, the latter has elected to a voluntary annexation agreement to be a part of the community again. What it means is that the Village and the Park District’s relationships “rights the wrong of the past” and opens the door for a number of positive opportunities in Bensenville. Benefits including patrolling by Village police officers, becoming tax neutral to the Village, qualifying for capital improvement funds, faster permitting, reduced expenses and increased mutual and sharing of resources and equipment.

Village offers update of downtown streetscape project Commuter lot scheduled to reopen Oct. 15
According to the Village newsletter, Phase II of the downtown streetscape is currently underway with the reconstruction of Railroad Avenue and the Metra commuter lot. The project includes new hot-mix asphalt pavement, stamped sidewalks,
curbs and gutters, driveway aprons, planter boxes, benches, striping and landscape restoration. The Metra commuter lot will be reconfigured to allow a PACE bus stop as well as bus layover space. The parking spaces will be recon-
figured and on e of the existing entrances on Addison will be closed permanently. As a result of this project, the community lot has been closed for improvements within the Metra commuter lot between the Village
Hall and the railroad tracks. At this time, it is expected the parking lot will remain closed through Oct. 15. Commuters are requested to park along Main Street on the northwest side of the tracks. The Village apologizes for the inconvenience.
