Village of Addison Sister Cities Golf Adventure takes place Aug. 29 Fundraiser helps cover students’ travel costs to Italy

VFW hosts annual picnic for veterans

On Sunday, July 29, veterans and their families were invited to the Addison VFW Post 7446 for its annual picnic. All food and drinks were provided complimentary and about 20 volunteers helped make this year’s event a success. There was a DJ, a dunk tank, an 18’ Dolphin waterslide for the kids, as well as face-painting and a bounce house. The day left everyone looking forward to next year’s event.

On Aug. 29, the Village of Addison Sister Cities will host a Golf Adventure at Links & Tees Golf Facility, 900 W. Lake St. in Addison. The golf outing will begin at 5 p.m. Fees: $80 per foursome, $25 per individual, includes nine holes of golf and pizza. Carts and beverages are extra. Miniature golf at Putter’s Peak will also be available for $10 per person, which includes 18 holes of mini-golf and pizza. Beverages are extra. Through that student-exchange program, Addison hosts students from Triggiano, and Addison Trail students travel to Italy. Proceeds from the golf outing will go toward scholarships for students who want to participate in the Sister Cities program. The Village of Addison Sister Cities Committee continues to raise funds on behalf of Addison Trail students to provide scholarships for them to travel to Italy.
