My family is one of my key motivating factors for the following reasons, first leaving a legacy for future generations What has prepared you for this line of work and the current industry you are in? The leadership roles I have held for Fortune 50 & 200 companies such as Target and Dollar Tree Stores and being an entrepreneur at heart have prepared me for my current role. Because of these roles and my passion and love for people, I have learned how to achieve, meet, and exceed customer’s expectations. A little fun fact....I grew up inspiring to be an entrepreneur; it started with my cousins and I selling lemonade in front of my grandfather’s house. How does your family and spouse play a role in your business and ambition? My family is one of my key motivating factors for the following reasons, first leaving a legacy for future generations, second a positive role model, and third providing financial stability. What challenges have you had as a woman going into business for herself? How did you overcome them? Other women not understanding that we all win together and that is it is not one or the other, but it is all of us together. It is not a competition!
Tell us about you and your background? Where are you from? I am a Native of Louisiana and Growing up without my biological father for the first 10 years of my life really shaped who I am today because I was raised by my mom, my Grand-father Leon, and my Aunt Leona and Uncle Alvin who all aided my mother. They say it takes a village. They all gave me something different which in turn molded me to be the woman I am today. Losing my best friend at age 18 in a car wreck. I remember feeling that loss that is indescribable causing me to grow up quickly. Getting married, having my first child at age 24 realizing I am responsible for a life. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University and Brown Mackie College after graduating from Hammond high school. Relocated my daughter and I in 2004, to Atlanta, GA. Embracing my passion in business went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration. My career in business started as a multi-unit leader with Dollar Tree Stores later to become their Regional Model Trainer and District Manager- Multi-Unit Leader. Because of my passion in business and helping others, I stepped out on faith and opened my own State Farm Insurance Agency and Branding Business- All That Glam-The Glam House LLC. And proud to say that recently approved by the State of GA to open the Mica Johnson Insurance School.
I overcome by staying positive, humble, and shutting out the noise, focusing on what is important. Leading by example! Continuing to lift my sister up and support her 100%. Who or what inspires you? Who do you hope to inspire? God inspires me! Women inspire me! Good people inspire me! Women wanting women to Win inspire me! I want to inspire other women to help other women succeed in their dreams. We all stand on the backs of other women who came before us. I want to be the woman that other women can say “MJ reached across, on the side, and to the back of her and lifted another sister achieve higher.
