WELCOME TO THE COMFORT COLLECTIVE

A Curated Guide to Escapes in the North Georgia Mountains

May is a good month to slow down with the people who matter most. Mother’s Day falls on the 10th, and Memorial Day weekend closes out the month with a Veterans Memorial Ceremony in Fannin County worth pausing for. Plus festivals across Blue Ridge, Blairsville, Ellijay, and Dahlonega, and the kind of long weekend that was made for cookouts, lake days, and a porch with a good view.

If a summer trip has been on your mind, May dates are still open and worth grabbing before the season hits its stride.

Mother’s Day | May 10

Some mothers want brunch. Some want flowers. Most of them, if you ask honestly, just want a few days with the people they love and nothing on the to-do list.

The mountains are good for that. No itinerary required, no clock to watch. A hot tub on a private deck, a morning that starts whenever she's ready, and whether her idea of a perfect afternoon is a glass of wine from one of the North Georgia vineyards or a slow cup of coffee somewhere quiet, the options are here.

North Georgia wine country has grown into something worth making a trip for on its own. Dozens of wineries and tasting rooms are spread across the hills between Blue Ridge, Ellijay, and Dahlonega, many with live music and food pairings through the spring.

The Ellijay Music Festival runs May 8 through 10, with live original music across multiple venues in town, most of it free. A low-key way to spend a Mother's Day weekend that still feels like a real occasion.

Whatever the trip looks like, we have cabins suited to it. Views, hot tubs, game rooms for the kids, creekside decks for the quiet mornings. Browse what's available in May and book before the weekend fills.

A few of our favorites across North Georgia

For the wine lover

Bear Claw Vineyards | Blue Ridge

The only vineyard actually in town, Bear Claw sits at over 2,800 feet elevation with mountain views and weekend live music. Female-owned, densely planted, and worth lingering at.

Chateau Meichtry Family Vineyard & Winery | Ellijay

A family operation in the North Georgia foothills, with live music every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Tours available on weekends by reservation.

Roo Mountain Vineyards | Ellijay

Two tasting rooms, gourmet food pairings, and panoramic views close to downtown Ellijay. One reviewer compared it to Napa; that might be a stretch, but not by much.

Paradise Hills Winery | Blairsville

A 35-acre property with estate-grown grapes, a full spa, and rental cabins on site. Worth the short drive up toward Blairsville.

Serenberry Vineyards | Morganton

A quieter, small-batch option just outside Blue Ridge. Good for an unhurried afternoon with no crowds.

For the coffee drinker

Mountain Mama's Coffee Lounge | Blue Ridge

Locally roasted espresso, homemade syrups, seasonal specialties, and the kind of atmosphere that makes an hour feel like twenty minutes.

Das Kaffee Haus | Blue Ridge

A Bavarian-owned European-style shop on East Main, overlooking the historic railway station. Known for strong espresso and imported pastries.

Copper Fox Bookstore & Coffee Bar | Blue Ridge

Coffee and a curated book selection in one room. A natural place to spend a slow morning.

Ellijay Coffeehouse | Ellijay

A 6,000-square-foot space in a 1940s building with a fireplace lounge, petfriendly courtyards, live music, and a full menu of paninis and pastries.

Cabin Coffee Co. | Blairsville Town Square

Single-origin coffees, good pastries, and a genuinely community-minded space on the downtown square.

A WEEKEND WORTH THE DRIVE

Memorial Day | May 25

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer up here, and by late May in North Georgia, it feels like it. The heat has arrived, the mountains are fully green, and the only thing better than being outside is being near water.

The Big Canoe Beach Club opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend. A sandy 300-yard beach on Lake Disharoon, a zero-entry pool, kayaks, paddleboards, the famous 200-foot rockslide, and an inflatable waterpark for the kids. If your group has been looking for a reason to book a Big Canoe cabin, this is it.

Up near Blue Ridge, the 50th Annual Spring Arts in the Park fills downtown on May 23 and 24 with more than 170 arts and crafts vendors. The same weekend, Blairsville runs its own Spring Arts, Crafts and Music Festival on the town square. Two festivals within a short drive of each other, easy to hit both in the same day.

And on Memorial Day itself, the North Georgia Honor Guard holds a ceremony at Fannin County’s Veterans Memorial Park that’s definitely worth adding to the weekend’s itinerary.

The long weekend was made for cookouts, lake days, and a porch with a good view. We have cabins that deliver all three.

Enjoy 10% off your stay when you book 3+ nights or more. (Valid 5/20 to 5/28) USE OFFER CODE: MEMORIAL10 Book Now Memorial Day Weekend Offer
