7KH 7 KH H &RUH & RUH Dear SCPS Parents, Guardians, and Community Members, It has been an incredible and festive fall season filled with new experiences, milestones, and triumphs. I am proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our staff, students, and families. The unwavering support of our community and parents continues to serve as the backbone of our students¶ success. These moments remind us of the strong community bonds that make Southampton County such a special place to live and learn. I am thrilled to share some of the remarkable accomplishments and highlights from across the Division: Career and Technical Education (CTE): Our program continues to make a significant impact, earning recognition locally and nationally. A standout achievement includes Isabella Edwards¶ participation in the Learn to Lead multi-state event in Oklahoma City. She led workshops on leadership and technology and had the exciting opportunity to interview one of The Voice¶s semi-finalists. The students from the Early Childhood Education class met with students majoring in education from Virginia State University at Riverdale Elementary School. Over lunch, they shared valuable insights and discussed their next steps in the field of education.

Elementary Schools: Our elementary schools are fostering creativity and learning through edible science experiments and transformation classrooms. Both during the school day and in out-of-school programs, students are engaged and thriving. Staff Spotlights: Our new, veteran, and international staff have shared their heartfelt reflections on what SCPS means to them and their vital roles in our Division and the community. Athletic Achievements: Congratulations to our football team on an incredible season! The team won the District Championship, with a few players earning individual awards. A special congratulations to Coach Travis Parker, who was named The District Coach of the Year for his leadership, expertise, and dedication. Community Partnerships: The support of our partners, such as the Fire Department, Sheriff¶s Office, and local businesses, has been instrumental in providing the tools and resources our students need to learn and feel safe. None of these successes would be possible without our devoted staff¶s hard work and the unwavering support from our families. I am deeply grateful for each of you and your commitment to our students and schools. Sincerely,

Gwendolyn Shannon, Ph.D. Division Superintendent
