Amy Kimberly, retired from the show last year. Along with her, longtime collaborator Laura Stover and Evan Gaspar took a hiatus. The result has been a little hole in our hearts and some big shoes to fill. In came Meagan Shapiro and Emily Fifer, longtime Show dancers and choreographers, with big hearts and big ideas. Along with a team of other talented Show veterans who’ve been working behind the scenes for years, we’ve put together a pretty dang fantastic show, and we’re excited to share it with you.
We expect some things will feel familiar and others fresh and new. But one thing we know for sure: the heart of this show is the community collaboration. We love and honor everyone who built this show from the ground up, and we delicately (and hopefully gracefully) take the baton, building on the amazing foundation and evolving with new inputs and talents.
So, raise a glass to ALL of the people who have poured their hearts into this production --- past and present. And huge thanks to all of you, for coming tonight, for supporting Carbondale Arts, and for supporting our mission to build community through the arts.

Retiring from a life in costumes for showbusiness, opera, ballet, and film, it has been great to ditch the deadlines and indulge myself in creating a show of my own. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to be part of the circus of the fashion show, and get to see my pieces used on stage. The bouffons, the misshapen characters you see, populate a French theatre style I was taught in Paris. I hope I will be able to bring you a taste of it by realizing Branded, a bilingual show here in Carbondale. Follow Branded Performance Project on Facebook! www.bniqa.com
Rae Swon is a felting artist who makes wearable animal sculptures. Her work explores the selfhood of each living creature. When we see a human peeking out from inside of one of her creations there is a reminder that every animal is an individual; they are people too. Their lives are as significant and immersive to them as ours is to us. While accessible and endearing on the surface, the heart of Rae’s work is an ethical examination of the arbitrary hierarchies placed upon living beings in our culture. Why do we grant more rights to some than to others purely based on the body they are born into? Follow her on Instagram @raeswon

This is Vallee’s second year designing for the show. A multimedia artist who grew up in the Valley, she first became involved with the production in 2017 as a model. That experience continues to shape her creative process. She designs from the inside out, thinking about how each piece will make the model feel confident, powerful, and genuinely excited to step into the spotlight. With a sculptor’s eye and a lived understanding of the performance, her work emphasizes structure, silhouette, and presence. She is especially drawn to pieces that are bold, strange, and joyful—designs that feel electric on the runway.
Founded in 2021 by Sandra Prado, Aspen Polynesia began offering lessons as soon as COVID restrictions allowed. What started as a small group has grown into a vibrant dance community, sharing the beauty and spirit of Polynesian culture throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. From Grand Junction and libraries across Garfield County to the historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Aspen Polynesia has brought the rhythms of the islands to diverse audiences, and has proudly participated in every Mountain Fair since 2022. The group’s mission is to build a joyful, connected community through dance and drumming, sharing the warmth and magic of Tahiti wherever they perform. We are especially happy to participate in the Carbondale Arts Fashion Show this year. Learn more at aspenpolynesia.com

With the support of KPCO and our Fashion Show sponsors, we are offering three awards to designers this year. Winners will be announced after the show via email, and will be posted on the Fashion Show webpage.
This one is up to you! Vote here, on your favorite line in the show. Winner receives $1,000 and all the glory.

This award is best integrated with the “Step Right Up” theme, bringing us some vintage circus vibes and feeling like a main stage, or sideshow, spectacle. Winner receives $250.
This one is for the best use of sustainable, reusable, or upcycled materials -- most honoring the Green is the New Black Extravaganza’s origin story. Winner receives $250.

Deco-Boco created the Ensō collection by upcycling traditional Asian clothing, like kimono, yukata, and hanbok, into present day creative botanical-inspired garments. Flowers and paper forms are a consistent theme throughout the collection, used in “over-the-top” signature pieces. Shodo, bamboo, and washi paper along with traditional Korean lotus petals, kimono sleeves, and other traditional Asian dress styles are incorporated throughout the collection. Ensō represents the perfect creative balance between fullness and emptiness within a single circle, encapsulating the inspiration for this collection.
