THE 2027 HOTEL EDIT

The Art of Arrival: 12 Hotels to Watch in 2027 From Milan’s former Versace headquarters to a private island in Lake Titicaca, the most intriguing hotel openings of 2027 are putting a fresh spin on where—and why—we travel.

A former fashion empire’s headquarters. An abandoned Tuscan village finding new life. A private island where mangroves give way to sand dunes. The most compelling hotel openings of 2027 have something in common: a story worth telling before the first guest checks in. While familiar names continue to expand their global footprints, the more interesting development is where—and how—they’re choosing to do so. Architects are taking their cues from the landscape, hoteliers are breathing life into historic properties, and once-inaccessible destinations are welcoming a new kind of traveler. The result is a collection of arrivals that promises far more than a beautiful room. Here are 12 worth planning a journey around.

2027 HOTEL PREVIEW

Milan, Italy | J.K. Place Milano OPENING SPRING 2027

Few addresses carry quite the fashion pedigree of Via Borgospesso, where J.K. Place Milano will take over the former Versace headquarters in the heart of Milan’s Quadrilatero della Moda. Interior designer Michele Bönan, whose richly layered spaces have become synonymous with the brand, will bring his signature sensibility to 38 individually designed rooms and suites. Expect the intimacy of a private residence in a neighborhood where impeccable style is practically a civic obligation.

Saint-Tropez, France | Le Mas Bellevue OPENING SUMMER 2027

The Riviera has never lacked for places to see and be seen, but Le Mas Bellevue Saint-Tropez is betting on a quieter kind of allure. Positioned between the village of Saint-Tropez and the celebrated beaches of Pampelonne, the 78-room Oetker Hotels property will feature interiors by Parisian design duo Gilles & Boissier. An oversized infinity pool, expansive wellness facilities, and sweeping Mediterranean views promise a compelling reason to linger somewhere other than a beach club.

Courchevel, France | Lily of the Valley Courchevel 2000 OPENING DECEMBER 2027

Philippe Starck is taking his talents to the slopes. Following its success on the French Riviera, Lily of the Valley will make its alpine debut with a 30-suite, ski-in, ski-out property perched at 2,000 meters near Courchevel’s Altiport. The designer’s unmistakable creative vision, paired with the brand’s wellness philosophy, promises a mountain escape where the après-ski experience may prove just as enticing as the skiing itself.

2027 HOTEL PREVIEW

Argentario, Italy | La Capitana OPENING LATE 2027

At La Capitana, the vineyard isn’t simply a picturesque backdrop; it’s part of the experience. An 18th-century manor house presides over 22 hectares of olive groves, vegetable gardens, and vines overlooking Argentario and the Tuscan Archipelago. Miramis Hospitality is transforming the estate into a working agricultural retreat with just 12 suites and its own winery. The appeal lies in the prospect of experiencing Tuscany at its most elemental, where the pleasures of the table begin in the surrounding fields.

Palazzetto, Italy | Borgo Santo Pietro EXPANSION DEBUTING 2027

Rather than simply adding more rooms, Borgo Santo Pietro is helping bring an entire Tuscan village back to life. To celebrate the property’s 25th anniversary, founders Jeanette and Claus Thottrup are extending their vision into neighboring Palazzetto, where a village osteria and locanda are already welcoming guests. Ten additional rooms are expected in spring 2027, along with a new flagship spa featuring indoor and outdoor pools, a hammam, and sauna. Plans for a bakery, botanical apothecary, cinema, and fermentation laboratory suggest something more ambitious than a hotel expansion: the revival of a community built around Tuscan craftsmanship, food, and tradition.

Naxos, Greece | Canaves Collection OPENING 2027

After four decades perfecting the art of hospitality on Santorini, Canaves Collection is setting its sights on a different side of the Cyclades. Its first property beyond the island will occupy the golden sands of Naxos’s Plaka Beach, trading Santorini’s dramatic caldera views for a more expansive coastal setting. The 35-suite resort will celebrate local architecture, thoughtful dining, and the Greek concept of philoxenia, the tradition of welcoming strangers as friends. For travelers who love the Greek islands but prefer a gentler pace, Naxos offers an appealing change of scenery.

2027 HOTEL PREVIEW

Sutherland, Scotland | WildLand Lochside OPENING SPRING 2027

Forget the predictable country-house weekend. On the shores of Loch Hope in Scotland’s remote Sutherland region, WildLand’s Lochside will offer exclusive use of a Highland hideaway set within a 100,000-acre estate. Designed by GRAS with interiors by Cecile & Boyd, the property draws on the forms of traditional Highland lodges and barns. Days unfold according to the whims of the landscape: wild swimming, foraging, cold-water plunges, or fire-cooked lunches arranged by a private chef and dedicated guide. The greatest indulgence may simply be the absence of an itinerary.

Shenzhen, China | Upper House Shenzhen OPENING AUTUMN 2027

Nearly a decade after its last opening, Upper House is making a significant return in one of China’s most design-conscious cities. Rising along Shenzhen Bay, Upper House Shenzhen will feature interiors by André Fu, the architect whose understated aesthetic helped establish the brand’s identity. The property will encompass 110 rooms and suites, 51 serviced residences, four dining and bar concepts, and its most ambitious spa to date. In a city synonymous with innovation and rapid reinvention, the hotel promises a sophisticated counterpoint to the energy outside its doors.

2027 HOTEL PREVIEW

Diriyah, Saudi Arabia | Raffles Hotel & Residences Diriyah OPENING 2027

Few hotel settings come with quite the historical significance of Diriyah, the UNESCO-listed birthplace of the Saudi state. Overlooking the dramatic Wadi Hanifah escarpment, Raffles Hotel & Residences Diriyah will introduce 202 guestrooms and suites, including a Royal Suite, alongside 90 branded residences. Its design will draw on Saudi architectural heritage, while dining and cultural experiences will connect visitors with the traditions of the region. For travelers curious about the kingdom’s rapidly evolving tourism landscape, Diriyah offers an opportunity to encounter its past alongside its future.

Lake Titicaca, Peru | Suasi OPENING LATE 2027

There are remote hotels, and then there is Suasi. Set on a private island in the middle of Lake Titicaca, the forthcoming retreat from Peruvian hospitality collection Andean will be reached via Titilaka, placing guests amid one of South America’s most extraordinary high-altitude landscapes. Details remain limited, but the concept reflects Andean’s commitment to preservation, cultural connection, and exploring Peru beyond its familiar landmarks. Here, the journey across the water promises to be part of the appeal.

2027 HOTEL PREVIEW

Maranhão, Brazil | Ilha do Caju OPENING JUNE 2027

Imagine having a 10,000-hectare island almost entirely to yourself. In Brazil’s remote Parnaíba River Delta, Natalia and Jimmy Furland, the couple behind the acclaimed Casana resort, are preparing to open Ilha do Caju, one of the world’s largest privately owned islands. Available only as a complete buyout, the property will accommodate up to 16 guests in three cottages containing eight bedrooms. Beyond the accommodations lies an extraordinary natural mosaic of mangroves, coastal scrubland, sand dunes, freshwater lagoons, and salt flats. It’s an invitation to experience a side of Brazil far removed from its famous beaches and bustling cities.

Patagonia, Chile | Awasi Patagonia OPENING JANUARY 2027

Patagonia’s wild beauty needs little embellishment, and architect Felipe Assadi has wisely allowed the landscape to take center stage at Awasi Patagonia’s two new Cenit Villas. Set within a newly acquired 7,000-acre private reserve bordering Torres del Paine National Park, the villas are designed to blend into their surroundings while framing panoramic wilderness views. Each comes with a private chef, dedicated guide, and INEOS Grenadier vehicle for exploring the terrain. Most notably, the expansion introduces Awasi’s first winter season, opening the door to a rarely experienced side of Patagonia, when the crowds retreat and the landscape takes on an entirely different character.

The most memorable journeys often begin with a compelling reason to go somewhere new. In 2027, that might mean sleeping beneath the vast skies of Patagonia, waking to the stillness of a Scottish loch, or discovering a forgotten Tuscan village brought back to life. These openings remind us that where we stay can change how we see a place—and sometimes, that’s reason enough to book the trip. Opening dates are anticipated and subject to change.
