Ibeganbymakingsomedesigndrawingsandbyusingawebsite(sewist.com)tohelpcreateapatternasitwasmyfirst timemakingafullpieceofclothingfromscratch.AfterlookingatsamplesIchosetouseviscosefabricinburgundyfor thefirstlayerandchiffonforthefinallayerinbrightplum.Ifinishedthedresswithbeadedembroideryonthesidewhich helpedtomakethefinaloutcomemoreinterestingandvisuallyappealing.Thishelpedmetodeveloptimemanagement skillsasIstartedthisprocessinthebeginningofDecemberandmadeitforaneventonthe18thofDecember.

BeforeImademydress,Ibegandevelopingmysewingskillsbysewingpatchesonmyjumperstomakethem moreinteresting.Then,whenImademydress,Iincorporatedbeadsforthefirsttime,whichhelpedmeto furtherdevelopmyskillsinembroideryandtocreatemyownoriginaldesigns.

Ifirststartedmakingjewelleryformyhigherartanddesignexpressiveportfoliotowearinmyreferencephotos (seeslide13)whichthenencouragedmetofurtherdevelopthoseskills.Thisledtoincorporatingwireinmoreof myjewellerypiecesandusingitsflexibilitytocreateorganicshapesanddesigns.
Crochet
Ibegantolearntocrochetinlate2024andstartedmoreadvancedprojectsin2025.Usingmyowntemplate basedoffofanotherpatternIhadfound,ImadeajellyfishwhichIusedtodecoratemybag,andIalsocreated myownpatternandembroiderytomakeaLunamoth,towhichIlateraddedwireandpearlstogiveitmore structureandmakeitlookmoredecorative.Ialsodevelopedmycrochetskillsbyfollowingpatterns,for exampletherosethemedgrannysquare,andalsoalteringthemtofitmysizesandsuitthewoolIusedasseen inthewhitecardigan(inprogress)andthegreenshrug.

Ihaveusedmysketchbooktoexploredifferentartstylesinordertofindmyown.Ienjoysketchingalotmoreasit doesnothavetolookperfectandIhavethecreativefreedomtoaddmyownstylisticchoicesineachpiece.I havelearnedtodrawveryquicklyfrompicturesbecauseofthisandthroughthisunderstandtheformofwhatI amdrawing.
