Care for your kantha jacket – care for the planet All our pieces are made to last, but by taking extra care of your garments you can prolong its lifespan and keep it looking lovely for longer. All our jackets are made with high-quality yarn and will last decades with the right care. How to best care for your fair jacket, handmade by the artisans of Solid Crafts? We have put together an easy guide so you can keep your clothes clean and cared for. As such, you and your client will keep your jacket smelling fresh and looking like new!
Wash separately, and preferably in a washing net on delicate or wool programme at maximum 30ºC. Use a gentle cycle –try to avoid programs with more than 800 turns and use mild detergent, without bleach. The less you wash your garment, the longer its life cycle will be. There is a lot of stitching on the garment, so these instructions are important to follow to prevent the stiches to catch on items such as buttons and zippers on other garment in the wash and get ruined. This is easily avoided by using a washing net. Whenever possible, light spot cleaning of garments will extend its life between wash cycles, and reduce the need for frequent exposure to detergent and excess water consumption. A lot of fibres/fabrics become weaker while wet, so please always take extra care when handling wet garments. So, do spot cleaning as much as you can. For greasy spots: dip the spot with washing benzine (you do not need to wash it, as this will evaporate) or put a drop of liquid spot remover on the spot and rinse thoroughly. Are there no stains, but it doesn’t smell so fresh anymore? Just hang it outside on a coat rack. After a few hours outdoors, your jacket will smell a lot fresher. You can also use a linen spray. Some iron machines also have a steam program, which can remove all bad smells from your

beloved garment. If you find a loose thread, cut it with scissors. Do not pull. To dry it, put it on a coat rack and let it air-dry. It should not be put in the dryer. Ironing is fine: the jackets are 100% pure cotton, so it can withstand high temperatures. Repair with love. Over time, some garments may experience a little wear and tear. Solid encourages repairs to garments that may need a little extra care to prolong its lifespan. You can always stitch yourself another small patch to repair any damage—it will fit the look and feel of these jackets
