WAYNE CO. - The June 15 Wayne County Commission meeting opened with a discussion about the future of John C. Fremont Park. Lauralee Williams, representing Camp Geyser of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, asked commissioners whether the county would be interested in exploring the purchase of the park's recreational areas while allowing DUP to retain ownership of the historic rock church, pioneer monument and surrounding grounds. “We're not proposing a sale,” Williams said. “Rather, we are here to gauge the county's potential interest in exploring this option further.” Williams said Camp Geyser would like to focus its efforts on preserving the historic rock church.
