WAYNE CO. - The Wayne County Commission kicked off the new year with its first meeting of 2026 on January 5, gathering on a quiet Monday morning to begin county business. Several agenda items were tabled until a full commission could be present. Approval of prior meeting minutes, commission assignments, and Ordinance 26-01 regarding elected officials’ salaries were postponed due to Commissioner Brian’s absence. The commission did approve Resolution 202506, amending the 2025 budget. Major adjustments included funding for the Hanksville diversion project; the new emergency services building; airport and parks capital outlay; search and rescue; and professional services, such as legal and audit costs.
