Have you recently lost your employer health insurance or do you anticipate losing it in the near future. If so, you may be able to get affordable insurance right now through the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Although the time to enroll in health insurance for most people is November 1 through December 15 each year, there are a few exceptions, called special enrollment periods, or SEPs Most people who lose their employee sponsored health insurance will qualify for an SEP. However, individuals must enroll in a new health insurance plan within 60 days before or after they lose their employer insurance. Any licensed, certified health insurance agent, such as the ones pictured on page 3, can help you understand all of the SEP details and enroll in a plan.
