airness, trust and honesty — they’re the principles that guide every interaction between Walgreens and its customers. They’re also the reasons Walgreens values its relationships with its diverse group of customers, employees and suppliers. Plain and simple: the more Walgreens recognizes the wide spectrum of people who walk through its doors, the better it is at meeting their pharmacy and convenience needs. Every Walgreens reflects the neighborhood it serves by tailoring the product selection and focusing on the unique health issues facing the community. The company’s commitment to diversity is reflected in its partnerships with organizations such as the American Heart Association and the National Urban League, who help raise awareness of common health threats among minority communities. It’s also why readers of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology magazine recently recognized Walgreens as a “Best Diversity Company” through the publication’s first-ever Readers’ Choice survey. Walgreens also values its relationships with historically black colleges. These invaluable connections allow Walgreens

Message from the chairman
rom the beginning, Walgreens has served a diverse customer base and employed a diverse workforce. Our stores Jeffrey Rein reflect unique Chairman neighborhoods. and CEO Walgreen Co. On a personal level, I’ve been immersed in diverse cultures. I’ve been surrounded by people who are not the same as I. These differences are very powerful when we take time to understand and learn from each other. Near the beginning of our corporate life, Charles Walgreen Sr. wrote the Walgreen Creed: “We believe that honest goods can be sold to honest people by honest methods.” This is the Walgreen Way, and it is open to everyone.
