Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce

Warm greetings to our Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce members and friends!

We have certainly been busy these past few weeks, and I have truly loved every opportunity to interact with our members and the community. Whether at events, in the office, or out around town, it has been a joy to connect, listen, and learn more about the incredible businesses and organizations that make Smithville such a special place. The energy and enthusiasm I continue to see remind me just how strong and supportive this community truly is.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the February Mixer at the Chamber. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to meet new community members who are eager to get involved. These gatherings are such a meaningful way to build relationships, spark new ideas, and strengthen the partnerships that keep our local economy moving forward.

We are looking ahead with excitement to our March Chamber Mixer sponsored by American Legion Post 180, as well as the upcoming Ribbon Cutting for CARTS. These events are excellent opportunities to show support, celebrate growth, and stay connected to what’s happening in our town. I’m also especially excited to host our very first Coffee Chat at the Chamber Office on Wednesday, March 11th. This casual morning gathering is designed to create open conversation, share updates, and provide a welcoming space for members and non-members alike to connect.

Please be sure to check out the Chamber’s Event Calendar regularly and stay engaged with us through our newsletters and social media. There is always something happening in Smithville, and we want to help you stay informed and involved.

We hope you have a wonderful last week of February, and I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events and around town soon!

Warm regards, Kathy Danielson

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE CITY OF SMITHVILLE CREW!

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the hardworking team from the City of Smithville who recently pressure washed the sidewalks, steps, brickwork, and exterior of the Chamber building. Their effort truly made a noticeable difference! While I didn’t manage to snap a photo of the crew in action (my apologies!), we are so grateful for the pride they take in keeping our town looking its best. The sky may have been a little overcast that day, but the building absolutely shines thanks to their work. Even Smitty can’t seem to take his eyes off it—it looks that good!

And yes, I hope I made up for missing the photo by delivering a batch of cookies to the team the next day. It’s a small token of appreciation for the big difference they make in our community. Thank you again to our City workers for helping keep Smithville beautiful—we are grateful for all that you do!

Did you know that as a Chamber member, you have access to post your events on the Smithville Chamber Event Calendar? It’s a valuable tool to help you promote your business, increase visibility, and connect with the community. We encourage all members to take advantage of this free resource! Whether you're hosting a sale, workshop, fundraiser, or grand opening, your event belongs on the calendar.

Cornerstone Partner Spotlight: Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)

The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) as a valued Cornerstone Partner and a vital pillar supporting both our Chamber and the greater Smithville community.

For more than 85 years, LCRA has served Central Texas by responsibly managing the lower Colorado River and delivering essential services that power and protect our region. Getting to Know Our Board Members

Cathy Meek

This month, we’re pleased to spotlight Cathy Meek, owner of Rocking M Ranch Weddings, Events and Lodging, Chair of the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and a member of the Smithville City Council.

Cathy’s commitment to service runs deep. She began her career with the City of Austin before spending many years as a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Specialist, where she developed a strong passion for public service and building community resilience. In 2008, she relocated to Smithville and was appointed to the LCRA Regional Council, representing our community while continuing her FEMA disaster work until her retirement in 2016.

Retirement, however, was anything but slowing down. Cathy launched Rocking M Ranch Weddings, Events and Lodging, creating a beautiful venue that has become a special part of Smithville’s event landscape. She joined the Chamber soon after, initially as a volunteer and

The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to work alongside the City of Smithville in a shared mission to promote our town as a vibrant and welcoming destination. One of the key ways we’re doing this is through the official tourism website, VisitSmithvilleTX.org
