A Message from

AswemoveintoJune,Icontinuetoberemindedofhow specialtheSmithvillecommunitytrulyis.Thepast monthhasbeenfilledwithconnection,celebration, appreciation,andexcitinggrowththroughoutour Chamberandcommunity.

In This Edition

Oneofthehighlightsthisseasonwasthe20thAnnual SmithvilleFly-In.Whatanincredibledayfilledwith amazingaircraft,families,visitors,volunteers,and communityspirit.Itwaswonderfultoseesomany peoplecometogethertoenjoyoneofSmithville’s favoritetraditions.

WewerealsohonoredtoparticipateintheB.E.S.T.FirstRespondersAppreciation LuncheonandtheB.E.S.T.CountywideMixeralongsidetheBastropandElgin ChambersofCommerce.Theseeventsremindushowfortunatewearetowork alongsideneighboringcommunitiesthatsharethesamepassionforsupporting businesses,buildingrelationships,andstrengtheningBastropCountyasawhole. Thismonthalsobroughtexcitingcelebrationsthroughtwowonderfulribbon cuttings—FaireLaNoubaandBrownPrimarySchool’sOutdoorClassroom.Both eventshighlightedthecreativity,growth,andinvestmenthappeningrightherein ourcommunity.

Asgraduationseasonarrives,Iwouldalsoliketoextendheartfeltcongratulations tothe2026graduatingclassofSmithvilleHighSchool.Weareincrediblyproudof thesestudentsandgratefultothededicatedteachers,administrators,andstaffof SmithvilleISDfortheworktheydoeachdaytosupportandinspireourstudents. AnotherexcitingareaofgrowthcontinuestobeourAmbassadorCommittee.This ever-expandinggroupisactivelyworkingthroughoutthecommunity,welcoming members,supportingChamberinitiatives,andhelpingbusinessesfeelconnected andinvolved.

the Ribbon Cutting of Faire La Nouba

Community members, Chamber supporters, friends, and local businesses gathered to celebrate Faire La Nouba and officially welcome this creative and inspiring space as part of the Smithville business community. The event was filled with excitement, connection, and a wonderful turnout of supporters who came together to share in the celebration.

Faire La Nouba brings a unique energy and artistic spirit to Smithville, offering a space that reflects creativity, community, and imagination. We are grateful to have businesses like this investing in our community and helping continue the growth and vibrancy of our local business landscape.

Celebrating the Ribbon Cutting of Brown Primary’s Outdoor Classroom

The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce was honored to join Brown Primary School, Smithville ISD staff, students, families, and community supporters for the Ribbon Cutting celebration of the new Outdoor Classroom.

This exciting addition creates a unique learning environment where students can connect with nature, creativity, and hands-on educational experiences outside the traditional classroom setting. The Outdoor Classroom reflects the dedication of educators and community partners who continue to invest in meaningful opportunities for local students. The celebration was filled with enthusiasm and community pride as attendees gathered to recognize the vision, hard work, and collaboration that helped bring this project to life. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this wonderful space possible and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on students for years to come.

ThankyoutothosewhocelebratedEarthDaylast month,includingwithKSBattheSmithville FarmersMarket!Over100peoplecelebratedwith us,enjoyingmakingsmushpaintingsoftheEarth, ascavengerhuntlookingforcolorsinnature,and nativeseedpackets.

We'reexcitedtosharethatKeepTexasBeautiful (KTB),astatewidenonprofitthatinspiresand empowersTexanstoimprovetheircommunities, hasrecognizedKeepSmithvilleBeautifulasa SilverStarAffiliate,adistinctionrecognizing strongcommunityengagementandexpanding localimpact.

In2025,KTBaffiliatesengagedover100,000 Texanswhocontributedtoover$4millionvalue ofvolunteerhours.Smithvilleplayedakeyrolein thiseffort,implementingprogramsthatreduce litter,promoterecycling,andenhancethelocal environment.Abigthankstoallthevolunteers whomadethispossible!

This month, we’re pleased to spotlight Josh Coy, of the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Vice President Treasury Measurement with First National Bank of Bastrop!

JoshCoyservesasVicePresidentofTreasuryManagementforFirstNationalBankofBastropandisaproud fifth-generationresidentofBastropCountywithdeeprootsinthecommunityhecontinuestoservetoday.

Beforejoiningthebankingindustry,Joshspent14yearsasaneducatorwithBastropISDandalsoservedasa CommunityandEconomicDevelopmentRepresentativeforBluebonnetElectricCooperative.Hisbackgroundin education,economicdevelopment,andcommunityengagementhashelpedshapehispassionforsupporting localbusinesses,schools,andorganizationsthroughoutBastropCounty.

Joshishighlyinvolvedinthecommunityanddedicatescountlesshoursvolunteeringatnonprofiteventsand localfestivals.HecurrentlyservesontheBastropChamberofCommerceBoardofDirectors,isanactive ChamberAmbassador,andparticipatesontheChamber’sGovernmentalAffairsCommittee.Inaddition,he servesonTheColonyMunicipalUtilityNo.1CBoardofDirectorsandisanExecutiveCommitteeMemberfor BastropSportsmen,afoundationthathelpsfundgrantssupportingBastropISDprograms. The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to work alongside the City of Smithville in a shared mission to promote our town as a vibrant and welcoming destination. One of the key ways we’re doing this is through the official tourism website, VisitSmithvilleTX.org.

This website was created to celebrate everything that makes Smithville special—our historic Main Street, thriving arts scene, family-friendly festivals, rich film history, and natural beauty.
