Sonoma Valley Connecting Locals and Business Location Just 45 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, Sonoma is found in the scenic southeastern corner of Sonoma County, centrally located in the North Bay region. Local Government Sonoma County

The County is governed by the five-member Board of Supervisors. The supervisors are responsible for making policy and planning decisions, and also overseeing special jurisdictions such as the Sonoma County Water Agency, the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District and the County Sanitation District. Where Dogs Can Run Free

Dogs living in the City of Sonoma must have proof of rabies vaccination and be licensed, due by Dec. 31 of each year. Guide dogs must be licensed, but there is no license fee in the city. In the unincorporated area, regular fees apply. In Sonoma, pets found roaming free will be impounded and owners will pay a fee. For licensing information, call the Sonoma Police Department, 996-3602, or the Sonoma County Animal Shelter, 565-7100.

You Never Know What Kind of Connection You Will Make at a Chamber Networking Event! The Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce believes that networking is a vital part of growing your business. The Sonoma Chamber offers monthly networking events as part of your membership. These events give the host venue and opportunity to promote their business and gives our members a chance to make new connections that can lead to growth opportunities in the future.

Jennifer was visiting from out of town, helping a member of her family who was hosting the event at one of our local banks. John, an active member of the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce, was attending the after-hours event to network on behalf of his company. It was a chance meeting that led to friendship, dating and eventually marriage and partnership.

Typically, these connections are new clients or customers or a strategic partnership that allows two businesses from complementary industries to work together in new ways. However, one of these connections led to an even more important partnership. In the Spring of 2011, two attendees of a Chamber After-Hours event met, started a new personal relationship and eventually fell in love.

John, a native of Sonoma, and Jennifer, of Marin County, live locally in Sonoma. They are the proud parents of five children, four grandchildren and have a big extended family. You might know them as the owners and operators of Mangiantini Construction. Mangiantini is a long-time member of the Sonoma Chamber and a great supporter of many local organizations. They take great

Sonoma Sister Cities: A Local Organization with International Connections The City of Sonoma is a proud member of Sister Cities International, an organization started under the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, whose chief mission is to promote world peace through citizen to citizen diplomacy at the local level between cities in different countries. The Sonoma Sister Cities Association (SSCA) is the local non-profit group which develops and maintains those various partnerships under the auspices the of Sonoma City Council. The first relationship began in 1959 between Sonoma and the French city of Chambolle-Musigny. Today, the City of Sonoma continues to foster a healthy Sister Cities presence, with a total of seven sister cities located among four continents. Our other six cities are: Penglai (China), Aswan (Egypt), Greve in Chianti (Italy), Tokaj (Hungary), Patzcuaro (Mexico), and Kaniv (Ukraine). The sister

city relationships developed for various reasons such as common interest in viticulture or historical ties. SSCA provides opportunities for the people of each city to share cultural, humanitarian, educational, and scholarly experiences which often result in opportunities for commerce. SSCA is proud to be a member of the Sonoma Chamber and encourages everyone to support our local businesses.
